Nutcracker Mayhem: Elsbeth Faces Andrew Rannells in a Holiday-Themed Sneak Peek md18

Andrew Rannells is taking on Elsbeth Tascioni on this week’s Elsbeth! And she’s…taking ballet!? The hit CBS show stars Carrie Preston as Elsbeth, a brilliant attorney working with the New York police department on their homicide cases. Whenever a case seems cut and dry, Elsbeth is there to prove that there is a lot more to be uncovered, and no murder suspect likes to see Elsbeth on the case. Today, Collider is delighted to bring you an exclusive sneak peek from the midseason finale in which we get to see Elsbeth taking on ballet and confronting Rannells, whom Elsbeth clearly has her eyes on, whether he likes it or not.

“A Hard Nut to Crack” is the 10th episode of Season 3 of Elsbeth and is described as follows: “When an avant-garde choreographer’s Nutcracker rehearsal turns deadly, Elsbeth leaps into the cutthroat world of New York ballet.” The clip shows Elsbeth in a ballet class with a group of young dancers. She’s trying her best and, at first, it seems like she’s doing it to learn how to dance herself. Until Rannells walks into frame. Rannells is playing a man named Harris Parson who brings Noelle Bennett (played by Willow McConnaughy) to Elsbeth’s dance class.

Much like almost every episode of Elsbeth, the audience knows what this criminal in question did, but it is always fun to see how Elsbeth Tascioni gets to the right answer. In this case, it clearly means taking a ballet class even if she’s wearing knee pads and is a grown woman in a class full of children. The hit CBS series airs every Thursday on the network and can be streamed the following day on Paramount+. You won’t want to miss Rannells and Preston taking on ballet just in time for The Nutcracker season!

Andrew Rannells Is Yet Another Broadway Legend on ‘Elsbeth’

Because Elsbeth shoots in New York, many of the series’ guest stars are Broadway powerhouses. The show has had Nathan Lane as a murderer, Laura Benanti is a recurring character, and now Rannells is joining the ranks. Rannells became a fan favorite Broadway star after his run as Elder Price in the hit musical The Book of Mormon, and he went on to star in a revival of Falsettos as well as playing Hedwig in Hedwig and the Angry Inch. So it was really only a matter of time before he took on Elsbeth!

You can see Rannells and Preston square off on this week’s Elsbeth on CBS this Thursday at 10 PM ET.
