What’s the saying? Old habits die hard? Much can be the same for Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) and Ziva David (Cote De Pablo) in the latest episode of NCIS: Tony & Ziva. This week’s episode, “To Be Determined,” follows up last week’s unhinged shenanigans in “Wedding Crashers,” where our beloved Tiva use Boris Peskov’s (Maximilian Osinski) and Fruzsi Gortva’s (Anne-Marie Waldeck) wedding as an undercover operation in order to draw Martine Aranow (Nassima Benchicou) out. Where things left off, fans got a bit of Tiva action in both the past and the present, with it being revealed that the pair were not only engaged in the past, but exchanged quite the passionate embrace in the present. Now, Collider is unveiling an exclusive clip for “To Be Continued” where Tony and Ziva talk about the latest development of their will-they-won’t-they relationship.
In the sneak peek, Ziva explains to Tony that she thought the kiss was “Really nice” as they prepare to hit the road, now off the boat (after ending with a shot of them to their song!) Their conversation, while brief, is surprisingly open and honest for a couple who can’t seem to settle on their dynamic. Both of them share that the kiss was driven by fear and feelings that they prefer to run away from, yet they both acknowledge how nice it was before they were interrupted. The scene is filled with their classic Tiva Tension. Their eye contact is only accomplished by people who so intimately know one another, and it’s eye contact that can have entire conversations of its own. As the sneak peek concludes, the pair set off on a new mission, one they look less than enthused to be heading, so maybe they’ll… talk just a little bit more eventually. Even if it’s to deflect from the woes of their current conflict.
‘NCIS: Tony & Ziva’ Brings Out a New Side of the Beloved Ship
Over the course of the four episodes fans have seen so far, they’ve gotten a more intimate look at how the characters have grown since fans last saw them on the flagship NCIS. Fans have gotten to see them as parents, as messy individuals who, in their will-they-won’t-they are at least open about it. Cote De Pablo explained in a recent interview, a lot of that is the “vulnerability” demonstrated by Michael Weatherly’s Tony. She says “to me, there’s nothing more masculine in a way than being able to see real vulnerability. So there’s the integration of everything that people love from the old Tony, which is the funny, the sexy, the gentleman, the movie references, the self-deprecation, all of that stuff. That’s all very much there.”
