One Bridgerton Character’s Future Is Concerning Due To This $6 Billion Franchise Sequel

Over the past year, Bridgerton’s Jonathan Bailey has been on an impressive streak in the film and TV industry, not only starring in Bridgerton, but also appearing in the miniseries Fellow Travelers, and filming the highly anticipated movie adaptations of the stage musical, Wicked, however Bailey’s latest endeavor, a widely popular billion dollar franchise, may not allow him so much free time. Jonathan Bailey is a British actor whose big break came in 2020 when he portrayed Anthony in Netflix’s Bridgerton. Audiences were awed by his season in 2022, and now, he is a tried and true star.

It was recently revealed that Jonathan Bailey is joining the cast of Jurassic World 4. This movie is the “new era” of the Jurassic Park franchise, which originated in 1993 and was revived in 2015. Despite its confusing name, Jurassic World 4 isn’t a sequel to the most recent Jurassic Park movie, Jurassic World: Dominion. Conversely, it’s going to be a continuation of the franchise with a brand-new cast that includes Rupert Friend, Scarlett Johansson, and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo. Bailey’s role in this film is incredibly exciting for him as an actor, but it may be a bad omen in other ways.

Jonathan Bailey’s Jurassic World 4 Casting Is Bad News For Anthony Bridgerton
Bailey may not have time for Bridgerton
Although Jonathan Bailey’s casting in Jurassic World 4 is exciting in many ways, it also poses a risk for Bridgerton. It’s true that Bailey managed to balance quite a few projects recently, however Jurassic World 4 is likely to be different. This film is part of a massive film franchise, one that has accumulated approximately $6 million since its premiere in the 1990s. There is a reason why it keeps returning: these movies are successful. Therefore, Bailey has made a big commitment, and it won’t be surprising if it takes up much more of his time.

Bailey’s participation in Jurassic World 4 will also have a bittersweet effect on his image as an actor. First and foremost, it will be good for Bailey to break free from being “the actor from Bridgerton”, and instead, make a name for himself as a real Hollywood actor. However, the flip side of this is that audiences will no longer immediately think of Bridgerton when they see him. This may seem like a small and arbitrary difference, but in the end, it pushes Bailey farther away from Bridgerton, which could definitely affect his participation and his prioritization of the series.
Bridgerton Season 3 Already Has Very Little Anthony In It

Netflix's Bridgerton announces season 2 release date
Anthony’s story is essentially finished
Unfortunately, Jonathan Bailey’s backing away from Bridgerton would actually make sense as well. After Bridgerton season 2, Anthony’s story has pretty much come to a close, and therefore, his participation in future seasons is centered on him being a minor, supporting character. Like Phoebe Dynevor’s Daphne, it would make sense for Bailey to eventually exit Bridgerton, since there is really nothing more for him to bring to the series.

Essentially, Jurassic World 4 is coming at a perfect time. Bailey can jump from one franchise to the next.
However, no matter how logical this may be, audiences certainly won’t be happy to see Bailey go. After season 2, he has become a beloved character, and Anthony and Kate’s Bridgerton story is always a fan-favorite. Anthony may have little to provide to his other sibling’s romances, but that does not mean that viewers no longer care about him. In reality, they would likely prefer pointless storylines so he remains on-screen. Plus, from a more overarching standpoint, it will look strange if the Bridgerton siblings continue to exit the series, leaving poor Gregory’s story without any siblings in it.

Jonathan Bailey Is Becoming Bridgerton’s Latest Breakout Star
Bailey’s current projects hint at a bright future
Bailey’s Bridgerton fate may be pointing towards a disappointing end, but audiences cannot deny how exciting it is to see the actor succeed in other areas. As previously mentioned, Bailey has been incredibly active in the past year, starring in Fellow Travelers in 2023, Wicked: Part One at the end of 2024, and Wicked: Part Two and Jurassic World 4 in 2025. In this way, Bailey has quite a bright future ahead of him, and it is hard to be too upset about this. Audiences may get less Anthony, but Jonathan Bailey is definitely here to stay.

Ultimately, the best Bridgerton fans can hope for is that Jonathan Bailey makes regular appearances or cameos in the remaining seasons of Bridgerton. Hopefully, in a decreased role, it won’t be too time-consuming for him to do both Bridgerton and other projects. In this way, Bailey can be both a movie star and the stubborn old brother Bridgerton fans know and love. Unlike other Bridgerton actors, hopes are a bit higher than Jonathan Bailey can create a perfect balance.
