Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D. and Chicago Med are returning for new seasons, and some changes are ahead for the Windy City’s bravest.

“We’re going to have a lot of turnover and a lot craziness going on in the CFD [Chicago Fire Department] from the top, where people are being cut and moved, and everything’s going to get shaken up next season,” Chicago Fire showrunner Andrea Newman teased to TV Line in May 2025.

“There will be hellos, and there will be goodbyes. I’ll say that. That’s for sure,” she added.

The Chicago Fire finale turned up the heat, ending on a cliffhanger with an unexpected arrest. Meanwhile, Chicago Med had a surprise pregnancy, and Chicago P.D. had a heartwarming wedding.

In addition to the One Chicago series coming back, NBC has launched the official One Chicago Podcast. The audio show is hosted by Brian Luce, a former Chicago police officer now a producer on Chicago P.D.

The One Chicago Podcast premiered on Sept. 18, and new episodes will debut weekly on Thursdays. According to NBC, it will feature “candid in-depth conversations with the cast and crew who are integral in bringing the shows to life.”

How many episodes are in the new seasons of Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D. and Chicago Med?

According to Deadline, Chicago Fire season 14, Chicago P.D. season 13 and Chicago Med season 11 will all consist of 21 episodes.

Apart from the shows having one less episode each, there will also be fewer cast members. Chicago Fire stars Daniel Kyri, Jake Lockett and Michael Bradway exited the series ahead of season 14.

“I’ll miss this character, and it’s time to move on,” Kyri wrote on his Instagram Stories. “Thank you to the cast, crew & the awesome fans.”
