One Chicago Crossover Event Sets Early 2025 Release Date

An upcoming One Chicago crossover has set an early 2025 release date, with all three shows coming together for one massive story in a single night. The One Chicago universe has crossed over multiple times in the past, featuring plenty of interesting stories as regulars on Chicago FireChicago P.D., and Chicago Med interact with each other. Earlier this year, it was revealed a three-part crossover would be happening in 2025, the first in six years. However, neither details nor a release date for the forthcoming episodes had been announced.

Now, according to Varietythe upcoming One Chicago crossover event will happen on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, starting at 8 p.m. local time. The event begins with an episode of Chicago Fire followed by Chicago Med, before ending with Chicago P.D. The three-parter will focus on a high-rise destroyed in a gas explosion, resulting in 40 people getting trapped beneath the earth. This includes two characters from the franchise, as everyone else races against time to save them. Check out the official logline for the three-part crossover below:

When a gas explosion rocks a high-rise, Chicago’s first responders come out in force to rescue hundreds of civilians. It’s the calamity beneath the surface, however, that sends our heroes on a race to save 40 people trapped deep underground, including two of their own.

Executive vice president of Wolf Entertainment and executive producer of all three shows Anastasia Puglisi also weighed in on the crossover, teasing a “three-hour action movie reflecting One Chicago as a franchise. Check out what Puglisi had to say below:

Putting together what is essentially a three-hour action movie is an incredibly ambitious task requiring complete coordination across our writers, casts, crews and producers, along with help from the city of Chicago,” said Anastasia Puglisi, executive vice president of Wolf Entertainment and co-executive producer of all three series. “We’re thrilled to have the best talent in every department to meet this challenge, reinforce the #OneChicago brand and provide our fans with a unique and compelling viewing experience.

What One Chicago’s Latest Announcement Says About Its Crossover Event

A Major Calamity Brings All 3 Crews Together

This crossover marks the first major event between all three shows since 2019’s “Infection” trilogy, which saw flesh-eating bacteria run rampant across the city as the CDC got involved. It’s also the first crossover between any of the shows since 2020, with Chicago Fire season 8, episode 15, “Off the Grid,” and Chicago P.D. season 7, episode 15, “Burden of Truth.” Given the shows are much farther along in their runs, it will likely result in new tandems across the One Chicago universe, especially for new characters on all three of the teams.

Two characters being trapped offers a dire situation for everyone on the crew, especially if it’s people who’d participated in 2019’s crossover that all the older characters would know. While it’s unclear if the trapped characters are from the cast of Chicago FireP.D., or Med, their dire situation is still going to force everyone else to work fast and efficiently to save them. With 38 other people trapped too, it’s going to make for a massive job, something that can help the upcoming crossover live up to Puglisi’s hype.

Our Take On One Chicago’s Upcoming Crossover Event

The upcoming crossover will be One Chicago‘s biggest event in six years, emphasized by the danger and tension inevitable to whatever unfolds. Since the three shows will finally be coming back together after so long, it can help strengthen ties between them that have grown looser since the last time they were together. But, with the event promising plenty of high-octane sequences, it can help kick off the year right for all three series.
