NBC’s One Chicago franchise is officially branching out into the world of audio storytelling. The network has announced that the upcoming One Chicago Podcast will be hosted by Brian Luce, a veteran producer on Chicago P.D. and a former undercover police officer, giving the project a rare blend of authenticity and insider perspective.
The announcement comes with the release of the first trailer, which teases an intimate, behind-the-scenes journey into the making of Chicago P.D., Chicago Fire, and Chicago Med. Fans will hear directly from the stars and creative teams that have kept the franchise thriving for over a decade.
A Host With Real-World and On-Screen Experience
Luce brings unique credentials to the role. Before stepping into television production, he served as a Chicago police officer for years, much of it in high-pressure undercover assignments. His law enforcement background now informs the storytelling of Chicago P.D., where he works closely with writers and producers to maintain authenticity in character arcs and procedural details.
NBC executives said Luce’s ability to straddle both worlds made him the ideal choice for host. “Brian has lived these stories in real life and now helps shape them for millions of viewers,” the network said in a statement. “His perspective adds depth, credibility, and a personal connection that fans will immediately recognize.”
Trailer Hints at Star-Studded Guest Lineup
The first trailer also confirmed that the podcast’s debut episodes will feature franchise regulars, including Jason Beghe (Sergeant Hank Voight, Chicago P.D.) and David Eigenberg (Christopher Herrmann, Chicago Fire).
Clips suggest that Beghe will reflect on Voight’s evolution from a morally ambiguous cop to one of television’s most compelling anti-heroes, while Eigenberg is expected to bring humor and heartfelt anecdotes about playing Herrmann for more than a decade.
Future episodes will include actors, writers, directors, stunt coordinators, and even real-life first responders who consult on the shows.
