Original Chicago Fire Cast Member Promises To Return For More Episodes

Chicago Fire star Eamonn Walker confirms that he is open to returning once again in future episodes of the hit NBC procedural. Walker portrayed Firehouse 51 Battalion Chief Wallace Boden from 2012 to 2024 before leaving the show following the season 12 finale when his character became Deputy Commissioner. Despite his departure, though, Boden will soon return in Chicago Fire season 13, episode 18, when he converges on Firehouse 51 in the aftermath of an incident where a firefighter was left behind.

Now, in an interview with ScreenRant, Walker revealed he would be open to making another return to the One Chicago franchise in the future, even though Boden’s return was planned as a single episode. Walker discussed the family feel of the show and how he would jump at the chance to do more episodes if Boden was written into some. Check out Walker’s comments below:

With only a few episodes of season 13 left, Boden’s investigation could have wide-reaching ramifications for Firehouse 51, perhaps even spilling over into the new season.

There are plenty of story avenues a Boden arc could go down, and there is a good chance he will return in future episodes in some capacity, assuming the show continues. While it is important for Chicago Fire to be able to find life after Boden and to achieve success as a show now that Walker has left as a full-time cast member, having him return in a recurring capacity can only be a good thing. The character is so iconic within the franchise that he fits the series so well. Even with a change of role that puts him on a different team opposite those he worked shoulder-to-shoulder with, the show is still a better and more complete entity with Boden involved in it. Hopes will be high for his continued return.
