Tom Selleck already has his first post-BLUE BLOODS project lined up, and it might be familiar to some fans.
“Everywhere I go one of the things I get asked is, ‘When can I see another JESSE STONE?’” Selleck said in a December interview with Parade.
Now, we’ve got an answer. GOOD HOUSEKEEPING reported that another JESSE STONE movie is officially in development, with Selleck attached to reprise his role as the small-town police chief.
Previous installments in the series include STONE COLD, NIGHT PASSAGE, NO REMORSE and THIN ICE. Selleck even co-wrote some of the movies, including DEATH IN PARADISE, THIN ICE, INNOCENTS LOST, BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT and LOST IN PARADISE (trailer shown here via YouTube).
Nothing is known about the new JESSE STONE movie, but an IMDb page for the movie states it is “the second of a two picture deal with Hallmark.”
While Selleck has not said anything publicly about reprising the role, the actor has always spoken of his willingness to play the police chief again.
“It looks like now I might have to write [a script for another JESSE STONE movie],” he told TV Insider last fall. “It wouldn’t be a final one because everybody loves it. Jesse is a great character, and it would be fascinating to find out where he is quite a few years later.”
JESSE STONE isn’t the only project Selleck is eyeing. In a 2024 interview with Parade, the actor revealed his dream collaborator — YELLOWSTONE creator Taylor Sheridan.
“A good Western’s always on my list,” he shared. “I miss that; I want to sit on a horse again.”
Selleck added, “I don’t know where my next job will take me. People ask, ‘What do you want to do next?’ I’m not sure. I don’t want to do Frank Reagan II.”

However, that doesn’t mean he’s not open to reprising his BLUE BLOODS role.
“I’m open to suggestions because I love Frank Reagan, but nobody’s really asked,” Selleck said when asked about the possibility of a spin-off. “I don’t see him retiring and going off somewhere.”
Selleck also revealed that he wants to try out more comedic roles.
“I would love to do another comedy. The right kind of comedy,” he explained. “FRIENDS made people laugh and cry at times. That’s the kind of comedy I enjoy doing. THREE MEN AND A BABY had that, too.”
He added, “A half-hour comedy is something I miss doing. We always tried to find the humor in Frank Reagan, which is sometimes hard with him.”
