Station 19 is concluding with its seventh season, and judging by the full trailer it just dropped, the Grey’s Anatomy spinoff that became an institution in its own right will leave no crumbs when its flame burns out for good.
After that incredible, jaw-dropping finale last season — where, if you remember, the Firefighters’ Ball became the scene of a disaster and all-out rescue mission — we were left with several questions. Chief among them is how Andy (Jaina Lee Ortiz) will fare as the new captain of the Seattle Fire Department. Well, judging by her confidence in the trailer, she’s going to leave behind a fierce legacy that honors her late father — but it won’t be easy.
It looks like Andy is spinning as inevitable complications from her leadership role emerge, with Lieutenant Bishop (Danielle Savre) reminding Andy that, as a woman, she has to carry the additional burden of representing all women (no big deal), meaning she can’t screw up. No telling what exactly Andy and the rest of the SFD are facing, but from the looks of it, it’s gonna be a lot. The trailer is full of blasts, rescue attempts, a lockdown, and of course, some hot action, including Sully (Boris Kodjoe) making a long-awaited admission to Natasha (Merle Dandridge) that she’s the love of his life. Aw!
There’s also the distressing revelation from Natasha that layoffs are imminent for the force, which may be the series’ way of signaling the beginning of the end. We’re so not ready to say goodbye yet, but at least from the looks of it, the road to the end will be a helluva ride.
