Queen Charlotte, the Featheringtons & Young Violet—Is Netflix Expanding the Bridgerton Universe Again?

A fourth season of Bridgerton may not be on TV for quite some time, but director and executive producer Tom Verica is getting some fans to speculate about a potential spinoff, especially after a star left a cryptic comment under a recent social media post.

“A little throwback to the colourful S1 @bridgertonnetflix with the OG Featheringtons and THE Queen,” Verica wrote on Instagram alongside two throwback images from behind the scenes of Bridgerton Season 1. “Big things are coming.  Stay tuned. @nicolacoughlan @officialpollywalker @missbessb @harriet.cains @goldarosheuvel.”

The second half of Verica’s post, teasing “big things to come” with a winking emoji, was perfect fuel for the fan fire to burn with theories, but Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story star Connie Jenkins-Greig’s comment, which included a bee and heart emoji, only fanned the flames even more. As viewers will recall, Jenkins-Greig played the younger version of Violet Bridgerton (Ruth Gemmell), the mother of the Bridgerton siblings.

While we’re not exactly expecting a second season of Queen Charlotte, Verica’s emphasis on the “OG Featheringtons” is certainly interesting, making us wonder: Is a spinoff about the Featherington family in the works? Or could Jenkins-Greig’s comment be a reference to the long-awaited Violet and Edmund prequel? Perhaps the Featheringtons could play a role in that version of the story…

Some eagle-eyed fans have also pointed out that Jonah Hauer-King is followed on social media by the casting agency that works with Bridgerton, and the actor has long been considered by fans to play Edmund Bridgerton, the late love of Violet’s life. Again, it could all be a coincidence, but fans have certainly picked up on this information and started running with it.

For now, it’s all just speculation, but as mentioned above, fans have been following Verica’s Instagram post, sharing their own ideas about what it could mean. One wrote, “IS THIS A LITERARY WELCOME CONFIRMATION?!!!?” in reference to Jenkins-Greig’s comment. Of course, that’s not a confirmation of anything unless Netflix or Shondaland make an announcement. However, streaming service Tudum’s big presentation is scheduled for May 31, which opens the door to some exciting news.

Only time will tell for sure. For now, we’ll keep fans in the loop until we hear any new updates about Bridgerton Season 4 or any potential spinoffs. For now, all we know is that the fourth season of Bridgerton will follow the love story between Bridgerton’s brother Benedict (Luke Thompson) and Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha).

Let us know what you think of Verica’s social media post, and stay tuned for any Bridgerton universe news as we await our latest return to Ton.
