Raegan Revord, a star in the CBS hit series Young Sheldon and spin-off Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, has confirmed they are nonbinary. Unbeknownst to most fans and followers, they had been using they/them pronouns under the radar for over two years – as a gaming Twitch streamer and on X with user name “SettingSunset.”

Revord, now 17, is most known for playing Sheldon’s spunky twin sister, Missy Cooper, on the Big Bang Theory prequel from 2017–2024.The actor has now turned writer, and they confirmed their gender identity while on tour promoting their YA queer rom-com debut novel, Rules for Fake Girlfriends. While Revord had already revealed their use of a streaming alias in January, the “coming out” just got cemented in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

Revord sat down last Friday with ET to discuss why onscreen brother Iain Armitage (as Sheldon Cooper) won’t likely appear in the show, how being able to write their book was “a lifelong dream” (they were even partially writing it on set), and a bit about their gender identity journey.

Revord explained in their interview that there wasn’t a lot of queer representation when they were growing up, even ten years ago as they were broadening their horizons with more reading. They confirmed their pronouns and shared thoughts on what it feels now to walk in the shoes of their most authentic, truest self:

“It’s so cool because growing up, whenever I would see a celebrity or whoever come out as nonbinary or queer or anything, I was like, ‘Oh my God, this is so cool, I see myself in you,’” they said. “And now it’s so crazy to have that experience where I’m now that person and there might be a kid somewhere who’s like, ‘Oh my God, I see myself in you.’ And that’s such an insane thing to think ‘cause I was in that kid’s shoes at some point in my life.”

The actor’s new fall read promises some twists and turns and a lot of fun. They shared plot deets with Women’s World this week. “After Avery’s mom passes away, she gets the first clue of a scavenger hunt left in her will, which sends her to England. On the train to her mom’s alma mater, she meets a girl named Charlie who agrees to help her complete the scavenger hunt if Avery agrees to fake date in order to win Charlie’s ex back. Things don’t really go to plan.”

Fans who find themselves sad to finish the last page may have another read to look forward to soon. Revord, who grew up loving the fantasy genre, is on to their next steppingstone with some work already underway on a new book.
