It’s a good week to be a Ransom Canyon fan! As we reported back in June, the Netflix comfort show has been confirmed for a second season. And now, that season is fully underway.
On Monday, September 29, Netflix announced that original series stars, Josh Duhamel (Staten Kirkland) and Minka Kelly (Quinn O’Grady), are returning to Ransom Canyon, alongside Tatanka Means (Jake Longbow), Justin Johnson Cortez (Kai Flores), Kenny Miller (Freddie), Philip Winchester (Dan Brigman), Jennifer Ens (Ashley), Brett Cullen (Samuel Kirkland), and Niko Guardado (Tim O’Grady). Emmy winner Patricia Clarkson, from House of Cards, is also set to join the cast in the role of Quinn’s mother.
“We’re thrilled to be back and can’t wait to turn up the steam, the drama… and the romance that Ransom fans have grown to love,” Ransom Canyon showrunner, creator, and executive producer April Blair said in the release.
Ransom Canyon production has returned to Netflix Studios Albuquerque, with the second season of the romantic drama being brought to life across four new carbon-conscious soundstages. While the project is fully in the works, specifics surrounding the Season 2 premiere have yet to be announced. On the bright side, we do have the official Season 2 logline to fall back on as anticipation builds: “The future of Ransom Canyon hangs in the balance as ranching dynasties continue to vie for power, and new faces arrive, threatening the lives and loves of this quaint, western town.”
Ransom Canyon is one of Netflix’s most popular comfort shows, joining the ranks with Virgin River, Sweet Magnolias, and My Life with the Walter Boys. Season 1 spent four weeks in the Global Top 10 TV (English) list and reached the Top 10 TV in 77 countries. Suffice to say, fans around the world can’t wait to see what’s in store for the small Texas town and all the characters we’ve come to know and love.
