The next hunt takes the Fugitive Task Force to Rhode Island, where a rich heiress has been murdered, and the supposed killer committed suicide. However, Remy (Dylan McDermott) is not convinced that was what happened and decides to dig deeper into the case. “The Fugitive Task Force is thrown into the world of the wealthy and twisted after a Rhode Island socialite is murdered in her own mansion. Meanwhile, Barnes (Roxy Sternberg) contemplates big changes,” reads the logline for FBI: Most Wanted Season 6, Episode 18, “Trust.” CBS released a sneak peek video of the episode, showing the team’s investigation into the death as Remy questions the deceased’s husband.
Remy tries to get another sie of the story by interviewing Vanessa Van Dyke’s husband. The team has ruled out a robbery and thinks the murder was motivated by personal reasons. Vanessa’s husband has an alibi since he claims he was down at the yacht club where he worked as a sailing instructor when his wife was murdered. This exposes a disparity in their finances since Vanessa inherited staggering wealth. Meanwhile, the family’s lawyer jumps into action to secure Vanessa’s money after her death and needs the husband to sign some things.
Remy watches quietly while interjecting periodically with questions. He doesn’t let on what he’s thinking, but there is something wrong with the husband’s story. For one, money is a great motive for murder, and while Vanessa had a lot of it, her husband didn’t. Could he have gotten too ambitious? Interestingly, Vanessa kept her family name instead of taking her husband’s name when they got married. Also quite interesting is that everything fell back to him after her death, including financial decisions. Finally, he tries to redirect Remy to other suspects. All these are red flags for anyone half as perceptive as Remy is.
‘FBI: Most Wanted’ Ends
CBS has set May 20 as the series finale date for FBI: Most Wanted. Following its cancellation, the show won’t return for Season 7. A recent episode has started crafting an appropriate ending for some characters as Barnes considered taking a desk job. The logline for “Trust” teases her decision, which might take her away from the team. In Episode 22, “The Circle Game,” “The Fugitive Task Force hunts down a rogue government operative planning a domestic terror attack,” according to the official logline. Tune in to CBS tonight to watch the new episode written by Ryan Causey and directed by Loren Yaconelli.
