Robin Weigert’s portrayal of Mary Dove Shaw, Colter’s mother, has struck a chord with audiences since the pilot. Now, the Emmy-nominated actress is sharing how the role unexpectedly mirrors her own life.
“I lost someone very close to me just before we started filming Tracker,” Weigert revealed. “Mary’s grief and her complicated relationship with Colter became a channel for me to process my own loss.”
Season 3 will reportedly give Mary more screen time, delving into her past choices and her strained bond with Colter. Weigert teased that viewers will finally understand why Mary has been both protective and distant. “It’s personal, it’s painful, and it’s going to shock people,” she promised.
