Rose McIver to Make Directorial Debut on Ghosts Season 4; Jay’s Parents to Appear in Christmas Special

Ghosts star Rose McIver is set to step behind the camera for the first time to direct an episode of the hit CBS comedy. This exciting news was revealed at the Ghosts panel at New York Comic-Con. McIver’s episode will begin filming soon and is scheduled to air in 2025.

McIver, who plays Sam Arondekar, the owner of a haunted mansion-turned-B&B, will also be a part of this season’s one-hour Christmas special, which introduces Jay’s parents for the first time. Actors Sakina Jaffrey (Billions, The Mindy Project) and Bernard White (The Matrix, Silicon Valley) join the cast as Champa and Mahesh Arondekar in the two-part episode, titled “A Very Arondekar Christmas,” airing Thursday, December 19.

The holiday special, featuring the episodes “A Very Arondekar Christmas Part 1” and “Part 2,” follows Sam and Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar) as they prepare to host Jay’s “hard-to-please” father, Mahesh, “difficult-to-impress” mother, Champa, and his sister, Bela (Punam Patel). According to the logline, their holiday plans hit a snag when a water heater mishap threatens to ruin the festivities.

Additional character details reveal that Champa, who adores her son Jay, harbors a bit of resentment toward Sam, blaming her for Jay’s distance from the family. Meanwhile, Mahesh, though proud of Jay’s culinary skills, still hopes he’ll choose a safer career path, like engineering, over the risky B&B venture.

The NYCC panel, moderated by CBS Mornings co-host Tony Dokoupil, included McIver and Ghosts co-stars Brandon Scott Jones (Isaac), Sheila Carrasco (Flower), and Román Zaragoza (Sassappis). The show’s main cast also features Richie Moriarty, Danielle Pinnock, Asher Grodman, Rebecca Wisocky, and Devan Chandler Long.

Ghosts Season 4, which airs Thursdays at 8:30 PM ET on CBS, is produced by CBS Studios, in association with Lionsgate Television and BBC Studios Los Angeles Productions. Executive producers include Joe Port, Joe Wiseman, and Richie Keen, among others.
