Hey, people who hurt 60-something sitcom stars who post racist tweets! Roseanne Barr forgives you.
In a new barrage of messages from the ex-star of Roseanne, Barr said she wants to “forgive everyone who hurt me.” She also tried to defend her initial tweet about former Clinton aide Valerie Jarrett by showing her affection for Planet of the Apes.
Barr’s revival of Roseanne was canceled by ABC after she posted a tweet in late May attacking President Obama White House adviser Valerie Jarrett, who is African-American. Barr used Jarrett’s initials and said “Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby.” She later tried to justify the tweet by tweeting “Muslims r NOT a race.”
It’s looking likely that ABC and Carsey-Werner Prods will move ahead with a new version of Roseanne without its namesake star. As EW reported on May 30, talks have continued over whether it makes sense to salvage significant parts of the family sitcom without having to say goodbye to some of the best actors on television — potentially refocusing the sitcom around Darlene (Sara Gilbert), who moved her kids back home to Lanford, Illinois, in the comedy’s 10th season.
