oseanne Barr isn’t afraid to speak her mind, and a recent snippet from her podcast has put her in hot water with some social media users.
A small clip from The Roseanne Barr Podcast has been shared on X, formerly Twitter, with the star communicating her thoughts on antisemitism allegations surrounding Elon Musk and the Anti-Defamation League (ADL).
The clip was captioned: “My thoughts on the @ADL and their political motivations behind attacking @elonmusk. As a Jewish woman who loves America and Its values, my voice matters as well. Here is a clip from my podcast with my son @jakezuccproof, who feels the same.”
As per its website, the “ADL is the leading anti-hate organization in the world. Founded in 1913, its timeless mission is ‘to stop the defamation of the Jewish people and to secure justice and fair treatment to all.'”
The video started with Barr saying: “Stop saying ‘The Jews’ we don’t all have the same opinion. We don’t all believe that the Anti-Defamation League speaks for us because they seem to ignore very important things and focus on very political things.”
Her son, Jake Pentland, then chimed in to say that most antisemitism on social media came from “the left” and that “they’re blaming Elon Musk because he doesn’t hate Trump.”
He also claimed that if people were to go to other social media platforms that are not run by him but by “[Mark] Zuckerberg, you will see much more vile antisemitism.”
This follows the ongoing dispute between Musk and several advertisers, including Disney, Apple and Paramount, who announced in mid-November that they were removing advertisements from the platform due to hate speech and antisemitic rhetoric that was being shared on the site.
Pentland went on to say that people are going for Musk and Twitter as it is “private owned, because he doesn’t collude with the government, because he is for free speech,” and he ended: “So the ADL is actually disgusting because they are going for him under the guise of antisemitism, but it is really to crush conservative voices.”
The video was posted on Saturday, and at the time this article was published, it had been viewed over 555,000 times by users of the app.
Echoing their points, one social media user said: “This is one of the most important posts on X right now.”
Another continued: “I love Roseanne. We are blessed to have her on humankind’s side.”
“Thankfully, we have people like you and Elon who aren’t buying the bull**** and being our voice!!!!!” an enthused onlooker added.
A loyal fan declared: “Roseanne is a National Treasure.”
However, there was a cohort online that was quick to call out her remarks.
“Washed up entertainer comments on world events in between jacka** comments,” a social media user jabbed.
Another said: “You do know that you’re bats*** crazy Rosie!” with a second adding: “Horrible Human Being, disgusting!”
“As a hate filled fat old hag, no. Your voice does not matter,” a third commented.
