Roseanne star’s dramatic transformation following stroke as he prepares for Bold and Beautiful debut

Tom Arnold is coming to the world of The Bold and the Beautiful next week.

The Roseanne star is coming to the CBS soap for two episodes, airing Tuesday, July 30, and Wednesday, July 31. He will be playing the Forrester’s new pilot, Captain Deuce Stevens. The storyline revolves around Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) returning to Monte Carlo to relaunch Brooke’s Bedroom fashion line for Forrester Creations.

In an interview with US Weekly, The 65-year-old talked about his positive experience on the show. “It was great fun!” Tom told the outlet “People love The Bold and the Beautiful. The loyalty, the fans, the opinions … I started going online and listening to fans argue about certain things. It’s like sports.”

He also shared a fun anecdote about meeting Thorsten for the first time while also applauding the cast and crew.

“Every 12 minutes, The Bold and the Beautiful does another scene. It’s a well-oiled machine. They’re just so on top of their stuff,” Tom said. “I was in makeup and this guy comes in and goes, ‘Hey, can I get you anything?’ I go, ‘I don’t know, do you have Sugar Free Red Bull?’”

“This guy who I thought was the crew — he had a very hard handshake — was Thorsten. The rich, wealthy father [Ridge]!” the star continued.

Tom explained his love of soap operas since he watched them as a kid and would skip class to watch them. He appeared on General Hospital in 1994 as Billy Baggs. The love carried on for the genre with ex-wife and actress Roseanne Barr, she also adored soaps. During his time as a writer and actor of his ex-wife’s self titled sitcom, they would have actors from General Hospital on the show: “Because soap operas are very good actors. They don’t mess around.”

He also teased a little more about his appearance on the show, which includes Steffy running late to her flight, and forgetting her passport as humorous with Jacqueline doing “some Lucy stuff with the comedy.” He attributed the comedic scene to showrunner Brad Bell who has he been friends with for years and added how “a little improvising” happened as well.

To get into the role, Tom mentioned how he used a moment in his past with Roseanne where they argued at the airport, she left without him and he had to get another plane. He also previously had a private jet with a pilot. The True Lies alum said he was going to campaign to Brad to return to the series after this short stint and will be boasting his excitement to his children he shares with ex Ashley Groussman.
