Scrapped Game of Thrones Spinoff BTS Footage Reveals Stunning Look At Naomi Watts’ Prequel Show

New behind-the-scenes footage from the scrapped Game of Thrones spinoff sharing gives a stunning look at Naomi Watts’ prequel character.
New behind-the-scenes images have revealed a look at Naomi Watts’ character from the scrapped Game of Thrones prequel developed under the working title Bloodmoon. Taking the form of an unaired pilot that was commissioned by HBO in 2018, Bloodmoon will have served to introduce viewers to Westeros during the Age of Heroes, an era set roughly 10,000 years before the birth of Daenerys Targaryen. While the show’s pilot episode was completed, HBO ultimately decided to pass on the project and directed their attention toward developing House of the Dragon instead.
In a new Instagram post from hair and makeup artist Flora Moody has revealed a closer look at Watts’ female lead from the canceled Game of Thrones spinoff. Check it out below:
Including a series of photos taken both in the pilot’s hair and makeup truck and camera tests taken on set with full lighting, the images offer a fascinating glimpse of Watts’ regal looking character. The actor’s impressive transformation fits perfectly with many of the hair and costume designs featured on both Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon.

What We Know About Naomi Watts’ Bloodmoon Character

While many still refer to the scrapped Game of Thrones prequel by its production name, Bloodmoon, the show’s official title was never decided before HBO decided to pass on the project. However, original author and executive producer George R.R. Martin previously suggested that the show may have ended up being known as The Long Night. Set thousands of years before the events of both Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon, the show was intended to be set on the precipice of the infamous Long Night War with the White Walkers.
Helmed by showrunner and frequent Matthew Vaughn collaborator Jane Goldman, the show will have seen Watts joined by the likes of Josh Whitehouse (Daisy Jones & the Six), Toby Regbo (A Discovery of Witches), Georgie Henley (The Chronicles of Narnia) and Naomi Ackie (The End of the F***ing World). Although it is unclear who Watts was supposed to be playing in the unaired pilot, her character had been described as “a charismatic socialite hiding a dark secret”.

Given the most recent images of Watts’ character with her immaculately coiffed blonde locks, it may have even been possible that she had a direct connection with the Age of Heroes-era figure, Lann the Clever. Known as the founding member of House Lannister, Lann was a notorious trickster responsible for swindling Casterly Rock from its original rulers. Although it is not clear whether Watts was indeed playing an early member of what would eventually become House Lannister, such a move could have established an interesting connection to Game of Thrones.
