SEAL Team Season 7 Episode 2 Ending Explained: Jason’s Breaking Point & Drew’s Dark Family Secrets

After the explosive first part of the season 7 premiere, the SEAL Team characters were in a desperate attempt to stop terrorists from targeting people in a mall in episode 2, “Chaos in the Calm Pt. 2.” Though they were ultimately successful, a lot of blood was spilled, many lives were lost, and Bravo 1 was still nowhere near returning to duty. David Boreanaz’s Jason Hayes and his team were the heroes of the episode (as usual). But the fact that most of the men were struggling mentally will likely impact the rest of the Paramount+ military drama’s final season.

Jason, Sonny Quinn, Brock Reynolds, and Drew Franklin entered the mall to find the active shooters and neutralize the threat at the start of SEAL Team season 7, episode 2. Meanwhile, Ray Perry and Omar Hamza tended to the wounded outside. Without any weapons, taking down the terrorists was difficult. However, Bravo 1 showed why they were the best and ultimately stopped the shooters. Although Bravo Team saved the day, many people died and lost loved ones, and Boreanaz’s interaction with one of the terrorists will impact Jason’s storyline in SEAL Team season 7.

How the terrorist attack in Sweden will affect Jason in season 7
As fans will recall, Jason has been suffering from a traumatic brain injury (TBI) since season 5, and the terrorist attack in SEAL Team season 7, episode 2 only seemed to make things worse. While chasing the shooters in the mall, Jason came face to face with one of the villains. The fight between the two was definitely the most intense and terrifying fight of the hour. Jason fought the terrorist hand-to-hand, but when a knife was pulled out, the scene became very bloody. David Boreanaz’s character eventually killed the shooter by stabbing him in the neck, and he bled to death on the floor.

Killing the man clearly had a huge impact on Jason, as he could barely move afterward. Luckily, Drew protected Jason when another terrorist arrived and prepared to kill the Bravo leader. Drew shot the terrorist, saving Jason’s life. After returning to the United States, Jason suffered from nightmares and continued to be shaken by what happened in Sweden. Jason’s old wounds had reopened (and hadn’t fully closed at first), and it may take some time to heal.

At the end of the hour, Jason confided in Mandy that he was worried that participating in activities would ruin his progress in improving his mental health. Sadly, Mandy just smiled and basically said everything would be fine (even though it clearly wasn’t). Jason had issues and wasn’t getting treatment. As a result, Jason could be in serious danger on SEAL Team Season 7.

Why Bravo 1 Is Still Sidelined
Even after their heroics in Sweden, Bravo 1 wasn’t allowed to do anything other than shore duty on SEAL Team Season 7. Jason and his men went home early after the terrorist attack and they thought their actions would earn them a reprieve. Unfortunately, they didn’t. Command thought Bravo Team “disrespected their presence by running into a fire.” So they basically wanted them to sit on the sidelines like cops on the scene. Of course, Jason, Ray, Sonny, Omar, and Brock would always choose to help people, but Sweden ultimately didn’t win them any favors back home.

Drew’s Mysterious Past Explained on SEAL Team
Drew remains a mystery in SEAL Team season 7 as one of the many big changes to Bravo Team. However, the appearance of Drew’s sister, Nora, at the end of episode 2 made it clear that part of his drama involves his family. Nora tells her brother, “The family needs us to get together.” A reporter is apparently investigating the Franklin family and doing a podcast about them. Drew informs her that he doesn’t like being favored by his family, which is when Nora seemingly threatens him. She says, “Go ahead, chill me. And Dad. But this could affect your reputation.”

It’s clear that Drew has some deep, dark secrets that he doesn’t want to reveal, and they run deep in the family. The Navy SEAL comments that his family is “just a sex tape away from the Hiltons.” Only time will tell exactly what Drew is hiding, but viewers (and Bravo Team) will likely find out by the time SEAL Team season 7 wraps up.

Why Sonny Attended Ben’s Sentencing Hearing

Stella and Sonny were supposed to attend Ben’s sentencing hearing together in SEAL Team season 7, episode 2, but Stella had to bail at the last minute. Sonny didn’t initially plan on going to the courthouse without her. However, something compelled him to do so, and when he got there, Sonny made a statement on Ben’s behalf. He told the judge that Clay would never have blamed Ben for his death and asked the court to give Ben “a second chance at having a good life.”

Even though Clay’s SEAL Team death was heartbreaking and unfair, the writers are ensuring his presence is still felt on the show through the characters’ grief and the resolution of Ben’s story.

Sonny made his statement in Ben’s favor because he knew that was what Clay would have wanted. Clay would want Ben to get a second chance, which is why Sonny felt the need to plead Ben’s case to the court. The outcome of Ben’s sentencing hearing is unknown, meaning that he will likely return in future episodes. Even though Clay’s SEAL Team death was heartbreaking and unfair, the writers are ensuring his presence is still felt on the show through the characters’ grief and the resolution of Ben’s story.

Sonny’s Assault On Colonel Decker Will Have Consequences In Season 7

While Sonny was concerned about Ben’s hearing, Lisa Davis learned that A.J. Buckley’s character has much more to worry about in SEAL Team season 7. To refresh everyone’s minds, Sonny punched Colonel Decker after discovering he was to blame for the Mali mission that went wrong. Decker didn’t change comms channels as frequently as he should have, leading to disaster. So, Sonny tracked Decker down and punched him, and if anyone found out about it, Sonny would be in massive trouble, which is seemingly where season 7 is headed.

Lisa was informed that the Army’s CID was investigating the assault on Decker (who is now a general) and looking for the perpetrator. It’s only a matter of time before Sonny is exposed, which would be the end of his career. Lisa will undoubtedly try to help Sonny cover the assault up, but Sonny will have to deal with the consequences sooner rather than later in the upcoming episodes of SEAL Team season 7.
