Just weeks ahead of the Chicago Med season 11 premiere, an update on one character’s love life all but spoils the outcome of the previous season’s cliffhanger. The NBC show has featured many exciting romances and torrid love affairs throughout its run. So, a new love interest isn’t all that surprising. However, their presence strongly implies how the aforementioned cliffhanger will play out.
The Chicago Med season 10 finale featured developments that either served as closure to character arcs or set up storylines to come in season 11. For example, Sharon Goodwin confronted her attacker, while Caitlin Lenox learned that she had inherited her mother’s prion disease. The most intriguing moment came at the episode’s end, though, when Hannah Asher knocked on Dean Archer’s door.
Chicago Med Season 10 Ended With Asher’s Surprise Pregnancy
Questions About Who The Father Is Went Unanswered
Chicago Med season 10 ended on a rather shocking note when Hannah Asher learned that she was pregnant. At first, one could only assume that Mitch Ripley was the baby’s father. Asher and Ripley were together for most of the season and had only recently broken up, meaning he was the only person she had been with. At least, that’s what we thought.
In reality, there were two candidates in the running for the mystery behind the baby’s father’s identity — Ripley and Archer. During the finale’s last moments, Asher walked up to a house and knocked on the door. The Chicago Med episode then showed Ripley running down the stairs to greet the person at his door. However, it wasn’t Hannah standing there; it was Sadie.
Sadie was the woman Ripley saved (along with her daughter) when they got stuck in a well earlier in Chicago Med season 10. Meanwhile, the One Chicago show revealed that Asher was at Archer’s house. When he opened his door, she told him, “We need to talk.” Then, the episode faded to black, leaving viewers wondering if Archer was actually the father.
Ripley’s New Girlfriend Suggests He Isn’t The Baby’s Father
Ripley Starts Dating Sadie In Chicago Med Season 11
Even though the Chicago Med season 10 finale didn’t outright reveal that Archer was the father of Asher’s baby, it heavily implied it. Plus, new information about the upcoming season reaffirms this theory. According to TV Insider, Sadie will serve as Ripley’s new love interest in season 11. He has moved on from Asher, further proving that Asher’s baby isn’t his.
If he were the father, Ripley would undoubtedly be too preoccupied with Asher and the baby to worry about a different girlfriend. Perhaps Ripley and Asher wouldn’t get back together, but he’s a good guy who would be there for her whenever she needed him. Ripley wouldn’t dedicate his time to a new, serious relationship when he has a baby on the way.
Instead, Ripley will be in a full-fledged romance with Sadie when Chicago Med season 11 premieres. Showrunner Allen MacDonald even teased that the new relationship is advancing at an unhealthy pace, further suggesting that he’ll be too busy with Sadie to dwell on Asher and her pregnancy. And Ripley isn’t the type of man to completely abandon a woman who’s having his baby.
By all accounts, it appears as though Ripley isn’t the man responsible for getting Asher pregnant in Chicago Med. All the information we have exonerates him (and further implicates Archer). The update on Ripley’s new love interest just further proves that he isn’t the father, and the first episode of Chicago Med season 11 will confirm this spoiler.
Archer Being The Father Is The Best Outcome In Chicago Med Season 11
If Ripley Isn’t The Father, Archer Is
Ultimately, it’s a good thing that Ripley isn’t the father of Asher’s baby in Chicago Med. The two of them aren’t on the best of terms following their breakup, and the tension between them would only make things more difficult in an already difficult situation. Archer, on the other hand, is the better option regarding the paternity mystery in the NBC medical drama.
Asher and Archer have grown quite close throughout the past few seasons. They already have a strong bond that would only benefit this new journey they are on together. Simply put, Asher and Archer would be better co-parents than Asher and Ripley would be in Chicago Med. That doesn’t mean they’ll be perfect, but they’ll definitely have an advantage because they’re close friends.
Perhaps Asher and Archer shouldn’t be together in Chicago Med season 11, even if they decide to co-parent their baby. They work so well as friends; a romantic relationship could ruin that. Plus, if anything goes wrong, Asher and Archer’s baby would be the one to pay the ultimate price. Nevertheless, only time will tell what comes next for the duo in Chicago Med.
