Season 30 Shocker: ‘The Bachelor’ Returns With a Bold Change Behind the Scenes

Fans of The Bachelor can rest easy knowing the beloved reality show has finally been renewed for season 30. However, things will be different when the dating series returns.

Deadline reported the renewal news on Monday, June 30. The outlet also revealed that the ABC staple will have a new showrunner for season 30, with Scott Teti — the showrunner of the spinoff Bachelor in Paradise — taking over the role.

Former co-showrunners Claire Freeland and Bennett Graebnerexited The Bachelor in March after accusations of fostering a “toxic” and “hostile” work environment behind the scenes. Both Freeland and Graebner have denied the allegations.

Rumors about The Bachelor’s future spread after a season 30 renewal was not announced at ABC’s upfront presentation in May, but according to Deadline, the search for a new showrunner caused the delay. The upcoming season is still “believed to be targeting its usual midseason window” of January 2026, though a specific premiere date and the season 30 lead have yet to be confirmed.

Who is the new Bachelor? Everything we know about season 29 star Grant Ellis

The Bachelor debuted in March 2002 and spawned a highly successful franchise that includes spinoffs The Bachelorette, Bachelor in Paradise, The Golden Bachelor and The Golden Bachelorette. The most recent season of The Bachelor saw Grant Ellis get engaged to Juliana Pasquarosa, but the pair announced their split on June 13, less than three months after the finale aired.

While season 10 of Bachelor in Paradise is set to premiere on July 7 and Mel Owens was announced as the season 2 lead for The Golden Bachelor in April, ABC shocked viewers in February when news broke that The Bachelorette would not air this summer, straying from its schedule for the past nearly two decades. Deadline reported at the time that The Bachelorette was not cancelled, although a reason for the pause in production was not given.

The critic had strong ideas, writing, “Skip the helicopter and yacht rides, and instead have contestants shop and cook together, decide what to watch on TV, hang blinds, and debate current events. Spice it up and make it real!”

Many fans were thrilled when Gerry finally asked Theresa about a real world issue —her thriving career—during the Fantasy Suites episode. They dubbed her “Girl Boss” because she went from a homemaker to a financial professional after first being a day trader.
