By this point, we’ve realized that Sara Linton is one of the most talked about characters in Will Trent, and that’s ironic for one simple reason. She’s never appeared on screen!
However, for those who have read the books that the ABC series is based on, you’ll know that Linton is an incredibly important character. Purists or those close to them would love nothing more than to see her appear.
With that said, does this mean the show is getting closer to casting her? Not necessarily. In fact, it doesn’t seem like they’re in any real rush to get that source material. Speaking to Variety, here’s what executive producer Daniel Thomsen had to say:
I feel like our Angie on the show has become a combination of Angie and Sarah, just in terms of the potential for a romantic relationship with Will. Angie in the books is a more dour character who’s not good for Will and doesn’t stand on her own, and we made a decision early on that our Angie had to be able to do more.
We wanted the audience to really invest in that character in her own right, not just as Will’s girlfriend. So I don’t have anything specific to add about Sara, except that I don’t feel like the show is calling for that this season.
Between the really complicated state of that relationship with Angie and Gina [Rodriguez] being able to do 10 episodes with us, I don’t think we felt like that was a part that we needed to add.
Could they do that someday? It’s always possible, but the show’s situation is tough because the audience has grown attached to Angie and while not everyone is rooting for her and Will, some are. It’s hard to think there will be a quick decision on this, but eventually it will have to be answered.
Do you think we’ll see Sara Linton move on to Will Trent for season 4 at ABC?
