Shocking news from Hollywood: Veteran actor Danny Huston dies after tragic car accident md20

The next Taylor Sheridan Yellowstone spinoff made a small but controversial change to its title, and Luke Grimes is finally clarifying what prompted it. Over a year since Yellowstone wrapped up with five seasons on Paramount Network, and the universe is looking to continue with a string of new offshoots that take place in modern times.

The list includes the Michelle Pfeiffer-led show, The Madison, as well as flagship follow-ups that are spearheaded by John Dutton III’s surviving kids, Kayce and Beth. Among them, Grimes’ project is first out of the docket, as it is set to premiere as part of CBS’s 2025-2026 TV cycle. Starting March 1, 2026, it will roll out weekly on network TV, where it will likely have a broader reach. That said, despite being part of the Yellowstone franchise, it recently changed its title from Y: Marshals to just Marshals, dropping the universe’s branding.

Addressing the change during his attendance at the 83rd Golden Globes in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Grimes said that the alteration had something to do with perception. He explained that the intention of including “Y” in the title was so people could easily associate it with the bigger Yellowstone franchise, but it was no longer necessary. He also promised that people would understand the decision once they see the series. Read his full quote below:

“I think they just wanted to make sure people knew it was a Yellowstone world, Taylor Sheridan world kind of a show. It’s clear once you see Kayce that it is that, so I think we can drop the Y now.”

When news first broke out about it, there was a theory that the change stemmed from Sheridan’s upcoming departure from Paramount, after he signed an overall deal with NBCUniversal. Removing the Yellowstone branding would have allowed the show to exist outside the universe that the producer built in the last few years, which is critical, since he would be leaving that whole franchise behind when he finally moves on.

CBS denied this idea, saying that “all press stories already reference Marshals‘ connection to Yellowstone.” The mere fact that it is spearheaded by John III’s son means that it will always have ties to the neo-Western franchise. However, based on Grimes’ comment, it seems like the way its story plays out convinced the creatives behind the show that the branding is no longer needed. In any case, “Y” will remain as the show’s logo.

Marshals isn’t the only Yellowstone offshoot to get an update recently. Beth and Rip’s equally-anticipated show also underwent a small but less controversial title change, dropping “The” in its title, resulting in it just being called Dutton Ranch. Unlike Grimes’ show, there are still no confirmed release details for Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser’s series. In any case, at least the Yellowstone franchise will have new content during the 2025-2026 TV cycle.
