We were all left stunned back in the summer of 2013 when it was revealed that Simon Cowell was expecting a baby with his friend’s wife, Lauren Silverman, following a secret affair.
Now, the music mogul has admitted that he feels “no pride” in the circumstances that his baby son, Eric, was conceived, telling the Daily Mail: “I’m not proud of the circumstances, I can’t hold my head up about it.”
Lauren was still married to Simon’s pal, Andrew Silverman, when she discovered that she was pregnant with the music mogul’s baby, and Simon relived the moment that he learned the news.
He candidly revealed that he got an “urgent call” from his girlfriend, adding: “This was not something I planned. But I remember going to the first scan with Lauren.
“I called him Tad because he looked like a tadpole. Something just kicked in. I felt unbelievably protective of both of them. I just absolutely wanted him. I just hadn’t known that before.”
And, as we have all kind of realised, fatherhood has changed Simon as he admits to the paper that he absolutely loves teaching Eric about the way of the world: “I adore my son,” he shared, “We make eachother laugh.
“We play with the dogs. I’ve taught him to share, to say please and thank you. Whatever he has he offers it to me.”
And although there is no denying that Simon and Lauren’s affair was shocking on a whole number of levels, it is absolutely lovely to see how Eric has impacted Simon’s life for the better.
