Sonja Sohn Joins ABC’s ‘Will Trent’ Pilot
Sonja Sohn will play Amanda in “Will Trent,” ABC’s pilot adaptation of Karin Slaughter’s book series.
“Will Trent” will star Ramón Rodríguez as Will Trent, a Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) agent who was abandoned at birth and endured a harsh upbringing in Atlanta’s overburdened foster care system.
But now, determined to use his unique perspective to make sure no one else is abandoned like him, Will Trent has the highest clearance rate at the GBI.
Amanda is Will’s boss, the head of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. She’s cold but capable, and always ready to take the stage for a press conference. Her rise through the ranks at the GBI has made Amanda a real tough cookie, but she has a secret crush on Will.
Sohn is best known for her role as Kima Greggs on HBO’s “The Wire.” She is also notable for playing Samantha Baker on ABC’s “Body of Proof” and Laverne Johnson on Showtime’s “The Chi,” with other credits including “High Flying Bird,” “Star Trek: Discovery,” “Utopia,” and “Luke Cage.
” She will next be seen in James Rowe’s thriller “Breakwater” and Sony Pictures and Affirm Films’ untitled George Foreman biopic. As a filmmaker, Sohn directed the HBO documentaries “Baltimore Rising” and “The Slow Hustle.” She is repped by APA and More/Medavoy Management.
Along with Rodriguez and Sohn, the cast includes Erika Christensen as Angie, an Atlanta detective who is also Will’s on-again, off-again girlfriend.
From 20th Television, “Will Trent” is written by Liz Heldens and Dan Thomsen, who executive produce alongside Slaughter and Oly Obst.
