Sopranos Star Bans Bigots from Watching His Work After Controversial Supreme Court Ruling

Michael Imperioli, best known for his role in *The Sopranos*, has taken a stand following the Supreme Court’s recent decision limiting protections for the LGBT+ community. In response to the ruling in favor of a Colorado woman who refused to create wedding websites for same-sex couples due to religious objections, Imperioli made his position clear on social media.
“I’ve decided to forbid bigots and homophobes from watching *The Sopranos*, *The White Lotus*, *Goodfellas*, or any other movie or TV show I’ve been in,” Imperioli wrote on Instagram. He added a sarcastic thanks to the Supreme Court for “allowing” him to discriminate, mimicking the language used in the ruling.
The decision, passed by a 6-3 vote along ideological lines, has been criticized for undermining LGBT+ rights, with concerns it may set the stage for more challenges to equality measures, including the 2015 legalization of gay marriage. Imperioli, known for his outspoken liberal views, emphasized that “hate and ignorance is not a legitimate point of view” and expressed frustration with the direction of the country.
His public stance garnered praise from many for supporting the LGBT+ community, even as political tensions remain high within the entertainment industry, where his co-stars have expressed differing views.
