Station 19 and Grey’s Anatomy Star Takes on New Movie Role

Station 19 and Grey’s Anatomy star Jaina Lee Ortiz has landed a role in the upcoming movie The Long Game.

Adapted from Humberto G Garcia’s book Mustang Miracle, The Long Game is based on real-life events in 1950s Texas. Ortiz has now joined the cast alongside Fortitude’s Dennis Quaid, Lone Star’s Julian Works and Magnum PI’s Jay Hernandez (via Deadline).

The film follows the stories of five young Mexican-American caddies at an exclusive golf club where the discriminatory laws of the era forbade them from playing.Station 19 season 7 | Release date, trailer and latest news | Radio Times

Out of their love for the game, however, they created their own homemade course in the Texas desert and went on to win the 1957 Texas State High School Golf Championship, beating all the wealthy, all-white teams to secure the victory.

Blue Miracle’s Julio Quintana is set to direct the inspirational movie based on the screenplay by Quintana, Jennifer C Stetson and Paco Farias, with Mucho Mas Media, Endeavor Content and Bonniedale producing.

“As a company committed to celebrating and telling meaningful stories about the Latinx community across all platforms, we are fortunate to be able to reteam with Endeavor Content, Bonniedale, and Julio to bring this moving story to life,” Mucho Mas partner and producer Javier Chapa said in a statement.Station 19 - TV trên Google Play

“We could not be happier than to reteam with our Blue Miracle partners on this ’50s-era story that personifies strength, guts, and determination by the young men the film is based on,” Bonniedale partner and producer Ben Howard added.

“Their inspiring triumph to overcome prejudice and break barriers has inspired golfers of colour, both professional and amateur, for decades to come.”

Jaina Lee Ortiz has played Lt Andrea ‘Andy’ Herrera in Station 19 since 2018 as well as starring in three episodes of Grey’s Anatomy. She also appeared as Detective Annalise Villa in the Fox series Rosewood.
