Maybe this will give you some comfort.
Although there are still many viewers rooting for Station 19 to return, the show has unfortunately reached its end. The procedural, which began as a Grey’s Anatomy spinoff, ended up as another ABC staple and lasted for 7 seasons before the network acquired Fox’s 9-1-1.
While the channel denies allegations that it canceled Station 19 because it couldn’t carry two firefighter shows, viewers remain skeptical. But whatever the real reason for the cancellation, it’s time to accept it and move on. Besides, there is one character who will keep you company on Grey’s.
Ben Warren Grey’s Anatomy Come Back
The clock is coming full circle as Jason George returns to Grey’s Anatomy as a series regular. George joined the cast of ABC’s most dramatic medical drama in 2010 as Ben Warren and has been a fan favorite ever since.
It was Ben Warren who brought Grey’s spinoff Starion 19 to life as one of the legacy characters, so it makes a lot of sense for the show to bring him back now that the spinoff is over. While Warren has made his guest appearances at some point, season 21 will be the moment Jason Georges returns to Grey Sloan Memorial full-time.
The next season of Grey’s Anatomy will need some fresh blood, as the show is letting go of not one, but two of its regulars, Jake Borelli and Midori Francis, who portrayed Dr. Levi Schmitt and Dr. Mika Yasuda. Bringing back a familiar face, rather than casting someone new, may be the perfect way for Grey’s Anatomy to give its viewers a sense of stability.
When Will Grey’s Anatomy Season 21 Premiere?
Now that all shows are back on the same production schedule as before the WGA and SAG AFTRA strikes, Grey’s Anatomy is expected to return for its 21st season in the fall of 2024/25, at the start of the new broadcasting season.
The only difference that viewers will have to note is that ABC is moving the series an hour later in the evening, from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursdays, to make room for the new medical drama by Ryan Murphy, Doctor Odyssey.
This news seems threatening for the Shondaland show, but given its longevity, viewers are mostly keeping their cool for now. If you are interested in tuning in to the next season of Grey’s Anatomy to see Ben Warren finish his surgical residency and work alongside his wife, Dr. Miranda Bailey, keep an eye out for the release date.
