Station 19 Major Character Says Goodbye Before the Series Finale

Looked like the April 4 episode of Station 19 was going to be the last for Carlos Miranda. At the end of the fraught episode, his character, Lt. Station 19Theo Ruiz, approached newly minted captain Andy Herrera to say that he could help her with the budget cuts that she was being forced to make… by resigning.

STATION 19 - “Crawl Out Through the Fallout” – Andy tracks down a witness to testify at her trial. Meanwhile, Carina and Maya deal with a stressful situation, and the crew responds to a car wreck on the season finale of “Station 19,” THURSDAY, MAY 19 (8:00-9:00 p.m. EDT), on ABC. Theo’s departure from the firehouse comes in the wake of his Season 6 split from fellow first-responder Vic Hughes and his season-ending kiss with “Chaos Kate” Powell. It’s been awkward for Ruiz, working with both his ex and the old pal who is always looking for a good time. And though new showrunners Zoanne Clack and Peter Paige have made him a lot less of the tool that he was in Season 6, there appears to be no chance of a reconciliation between him and Vic.

Ya had to feel for Andy after her very-bad, no-good day.

Plus, over the course of the episode, Kate shared with Theo that she was now working as a freelance firefighter for an outside company for a buttload of money — way more than Station 19’s crew gets paid. So it was essentially the same gig but with better pay and no ex-girlfriend around to give Ruiz the cold shoulder. That had to have sounded pretty appealing to him!
