Being the final season, Station 19 season 7 set up many of the final storylines for its characters – and the wholesomeness and perfection of one friendship in particular shone through as a result. With Pruitt Herrera initially and Andy Herrera now fostering a sense of family and community within Station 19, the relationships among the firefighters have always been cultivated to be at least supportive of each other, even in situations of differences of opinion. This prompted the creation of many beautiful friendships, among which one stood higher than all both for its history and the support demonstrated.
The close-knit nature of the relationships among Station 19’s firefighters prompted romances as often as friendships. However, while all romantic relationships among Station 19 firefighters eventually ended, the friendships persisted. Through Station 19’s seven seasons, the firefighters supported each other through thick and thin, displaying a persistence to show up for one another that any other firehouse envied. At times, friends within the firehouse also lived together outside of it. One of Station 19’s most durable friendships did just that throughout Station 19, going through ups and downs before showing an outstanding kind of support in Station 19 season 7.
Station 19 Season 7’s Ceremony Confirmed Maya & Andy’s Friendship As The Show’s Best
Station 19 Season 7 Only Showed Them Unwaveringly Supporting Each Other
Andy and Maya’s friendship was already stable by the end of Station 19 season 6, as Maya’s commitment to her mental health bettered all her relationships. However, Station 19 season 7 cemented the importance of their friendship in their lives, showing how Maya was there every step of the way for Andy’s captaincy. Andy did just the same for her right after Maya and Carina were chosen to foster Liam, thinking of her friend’s well-being and sending her home after a difficult shift in Station 19 season 7, episode 3 despite that would have left them short-staffed.
Maya supported Andy in a way other Station 19 firefighters couldn’t, offering the perspective of someone who had known her since their time at the Academy. By reminding Andy of the added difficulties she would face being a female captain, Maya spoke from experience, helping her in practice and spirit. Maya pinning the new captain’s badge on Andy embodied the importance of their friendship through the years, simultaneously celebrating Andy’s achievement and the support of their relationship, which made it possible for them to overcome the hurdles and be there for each other in Station 19 season 7, episode 5.
Station 19 Put Andy & Maya Through A Lot (& That’s Why They’re Great In Season 7)
They Put Their Careers Before Their Friendship But Also Stood Up For Each Other
While Station 19 season 7 saw Maya and Andy’s friendship thrive, they didn’t always see eye to eye through the years. From Andy feeling betrayed by Maya not telling her that she and Jack were hooking up to Maya being hurt by Andy not seeing her as worthy to become a lieutenant, Maya and Andy have gone through rough patches when they barely talked to one another. However, despite the worst things they could have said to each other when upset, they always rallied together in times of need.
When Maya disobeyed the fire chief in Station 19 season 4’s finale so that a child could be saved, Andy backed her up to the point that she followed Maya to the fire chief’s office to protest Maya’s demotion to lieutenant. Because of Andy standing by Maya, she was transferred to Station 23. Similarly, when Andy needed to move out of Pruitt’s house following their terrible fight, Maya offered her a room in a time of need. Their unrelenting support for each other persisting even after years of ups and downs makes Andy and Maya’s the best Station 19 friendship.
