Station 19 showrunners Zoanne Clack and Peter Page discuss the plans for the series’ future. They also outline where it would have headed if not for its Season Seven cancelation.
Speaking to Deadline, Clack and Page opened up about what they had planned for the hit ABC series ahead of its cancelation. When asked what stories a potential eighth season would have told, Page responded, “There were stories. Would we have loved to do a whole story where Beckett starts dating Ginny and how they get folded into the Sullivan/Ross relationship in an interesting way? Yes!”
“There was also a Carina arc,” Clack added. “She was maybe just a little bit trepidatious about medicine and practicing medicine and wanted to be out in the field more and do an EMS fellowship. She was going to suit up like probably episode 8 and then we were going to follow her out in the field and more integrated into the show for Season 8. But what we got was the moment of the finale, which was great, but not exactly where we were gonna take it.”
Station 19 First Debuted in 2018
Station 19, the second Grey’s Anatomy spinoff series after 2007’s Private Practice, follows the exploits of the men and women of Seattle Fire Station 19 and premiered on ABC in 2018. Station 19 stars Jaina Lee Ortiz as Andrea “Andy” Herrera, Jason George as Dr. Benjamin Warren, Grey Damon as Jack Gibson, Barrett Dozz as Victoria Hughes, Jay Hayden as Travis Montgomery, and Denielle Savre as Maya Bishop. In the series’ third season, Stefania Spampinato joined the cast as Dr. Carina DeLuca in a recurring role before being added to the series’ main cast in its fourth season.
Jason George recently gave fans a glimmer of hope that they would see his character return to Grey’s Anatomy, in which he was first introduced during the series’ sixth season. George’s character, Ben Warren, made his debut as the husband of Chandra Wilson’s Miranda Bailey and quickly became a favorite among fans. “I like to think that there’s still a Ben-Bailey, or Benley, story to tell,” George said. ” think that’s a possibility. There may be conversations”
