Station 19’s Grey Damon likes the idea of a crossover event with 9-1-1.
The actor plays Jack Gibson in the Grey’s Anatomy spin-off, and was asked about the possibility of the two shows crossing paths following 9-1-1’s move to network ABC.
“Maybe Buck and Jack become best buds and then they help each other through life,” he said (via Hello!) in reference to Oliver Stark’s firefighter Evan Buckley, whose backstory is almost a mirror image of Jack’s.
Fox Entertainment’s president of scripted programming Michael Thorn told press that any 9-1-1 crossover is “extremely unlikely”, though.
“As far as crossovers go, crossovers have always been really hard on the 9-1-1 franchise because they’re such an ambitious schedule,” he said.
“They weren’t able to do it every year when [9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Lone Star] were on our network anyways, so I’d say it’s extremely unlikely.”
For now, Damon can take solace in the fact that Seattle Fire Department Station 19 isn’t going anywhere any time soon.
Reacting to Station 19’s season 7 renewal last month, co-showrunner Zoanne Clack shared in a statement: “I feel incredibly honoured to be entrusted with this dynamic and relevant show alongside Peter [Paige]. The diversity of the cast, writers, and crew in addition to their enormous talent and dedication to their craft makes this a thrilling adventure to undertake.
“We are excited about the stories we get to tell using this worldwide platform and both understand the responsibility of being able to share them as we reach into millions of homes weekly.”
