STATION 19 star Danielle Savre has called out the show cutting a sweet moment between her character Maya and her wife Carina in the newest episode.
Fans had been anticipating a nice kiss between the couple after ABC shared a promo photo of the scene, but it was cut short in the actual broadcast.
Last week, Station 19 released episode stills from the show’s May 2 episode in order to promote the broadcast and tease what viewers could expect to see.
There were a slew of shots of the firefighters in their gear and working, but there were also a couple of Maya and Carina spending time together at a bar.
In one snap, the two stared lovingly at one another while laughing together.
The second shot, which got shared all throughout the fandom, featured Marina (the couple name for the duo) locking lips.Station 19 showrunners give hope for another season of canceled show
When the episode aired, though, the actual kiss was not shown.
The scene arrived just a few minutes into the episode,
After the show started off showing “last spring” at the Seattle Fire Department, it then cut to show Maya and Carina sitting at the bar, already finishing off their kiss.
Fans live-tweeting the episode blasted Station 19 for not showing the full moment that was teased in the promo photo.
UPSETTING DECISION
Star Danielle jumped into the online conversation, as well, to call out the decision.
“Hi! I’m here,” she tweeted on X (formerly Twitter). “Just struggling to comprehend why they decided to post a picture of the kiss but not air the whole scene.”
“Keeping my thoughts to myself,” she added at the end of her tweet.
“Girl speak your truth,” one fan told her.
“YOU ARE SO REAL FOR THIS,” a second X user insisted. “We are all having the exact same thoughts.”
“Yup I think we’re all on the same page here,” wrote a third fan. “Appreciate you for speaking up on it though – that means a lot.”
“ABC using ‘hot Marina in the 10pm slot’ as clickbait for the new season yet cutting every kiss,” another upset fan blasted.
FAN SUGGESTIONS
A short clip of what the city looked like at night was shown as a transition between the two scenes, but fans online said that moment could’ve been dropped to allow for the full Marina kiss.
“Literally should’ve not put those buildings there and show us the kiss instead idk,” tweeted one angry fan.
“They cut the kiss off and showed us buildings instead,” another said.
“We need every deleted Marina scene that ever existed,” insisted another.
The show was canceled last year and is currently airing its seventh and final season.
