Days of Our Lives Stephanie Johnson (Abigail Klein) is soap opera royalty as the daughter of super couple Steve and Kayla’s, but it appears everything won’t be smooth sailing for the beloved soap heroine this fall as the head writers tease an upcoming twist for the fan favorite character.
Speaking to TVInsider head writers Paula Cwikly and Jeanne Marie Ford discussed what was to come for the Peacock streaming soap opera as it headed towards its 60th anniversary and beyond.
During this discussion the topic of Stephanie’s future storylines came up, where it was revealed that her past will come back to haunt her.
While there is no confirmation for what, or rather who, from Stephanie’s past will be coming into play, fans have been speculating on social media that her ex-boyfriend Jeremy Horton will be returning to raise havoc.
Jeremy has been brought up on the show multiple times in recent episodes after years of not being mentioned. Soaps will sometimes plant seeds of the story early on to get the viewers ready for the impending arrival of the character.
Who Is Jeremy Horton?
Jeremy Horton is the son of Mike Horton (Then Michael T. Weiss, most recently Roark Critchlow) and Robin Jacobs (Derya Ruggles). The character was born off screen in 1987 after Robin left town with Mike unaware of her pregnancy. She returned in 1989 and introduced Mike to his son. Shortly thereafter, Robin and Jeremy left town, and Mike followed.
Jeremy then returned to Salem in 2007, now played by future 90210 star Trevor Donovan, as Stephanie Johnson’s boyfriend. Throughout the story it is revealed that Jeremy has developed some abusive tendencies and continued to verbally and physically take out his anger on Stephanie. Jeremy left in October of 2007 and has not been seen since.
Who will play Jeremy?
As previously stated there is no confirmation that Jeremy is retuning to Days of Our Lives however fans are theorizing on social media that either Michael Roark or Hank Northrop will be portraying Jeremy as both actors have been confirmed to be joining the soap but have not confirmed their roles.
If Jeremy returns, he will join a growing list of confirmed returns celebrating the soaps 60th anniversary, including fan favorites such as Jeremy’s father Mike Horton (Roark Critchlow), cousin Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo) and more.
