It’s been several weeks since the airing of Chicago PD Season 12, Episode 15, “Greater Good.” Hank Voight’s clash with Deputy Chief Charlie Reid was thrilling and left fans wanting more, and now more is coming as the beloved police procedural is finally back this week. As Season 12 nears its conclusion, it looks to shake things up with Episode 16, “Seen and Unseen.”
With her and Adam Ruzek’s long-awaited wedding fast approaching, Kim Burgess takes center stage in this week’s Chicago PD. A part of the series since Season 1, Burgess has often been put through the wringer in her focus episodes, and “Seen and Unseen” seems to be keeping with that tradition. At the same time, it may also be giving her another opportunity to prove she deserved her promotion to detective earlier this season.
Kim Burgess’s Memory is Put to the Test in Chicago PD Season 12, Episode 16
Season 12, Episode 15, “Greater Good,” was one of the most important entries in the season, cementing Chief Reid as the season’s main villain and providing a rare challenge for Voight. Reid is the latest in a line of corrupt superior officers that Voight has to bring down, and he’s likely to persist as a threat until the season finale. This upcoming conflict might not bode well for Kim Burgess and Adam Ruzek, whose wedding has been confirmed to be happening at the end of Season 12.
Chicago PD is taking a break from its main storyline with Season 12, Episode 16, “Seen and Unseen.” Along with a Burgess-centric promo, NBC has released an official description for the episode. The logline reads, “Burgess’ memory recall is put to the test following a deadly incident at her local diner.”
Season 12 has been a bumpy ride for Burgess. Despite being a main character in Chicago PD since Season 1 and a member of Voight’s Intelligence Unit since Season 4, she’s only recently been promoted to detective. Yet, this celebratory moment was undercut by the corrupt circumstances that led up to it. With a murder now having been committed in a place that hits close to home, her never-ending struggle will be continuing this week. Hopefully, Ruzek will be able to support her through this and remind fans why this pairing is so popular. Just as importantly, this will ideally be an opportunity for Burgess to show why she should have been promoted seasons ago and under more fair circumstances.Season 12, Episode 15 of Chicago PD, “Greater Good,” aired on March 5th. It’s typical for airings of new Chicago PD episodes to skip weeks for a variety of reasons, with the most recent cause being NBC’s airing of Opry 100: A Live Celebration, a country music special. Now, Chicago PD’s two-week hiatus is coming to an end.
