Suzanne Somers’ Heartfelt Final Wish for Her Husband Revealed Years After Her Death

Iconic ’70s Actress’ Final Message to Husband Revealed 2 Years After Her Tragic Death

It’s been nearly two years since the world lost iconic actress Suzanne Somers. The Three’s Company star died at the age of 76 after a recurrence of breast cancer.

Somers was survived by her husband Alan Hamel (in addition to kids and grandkids). In recent weeks, Hamel has been romantically linked to Somers’ former Hollywood Wives costar Joanna Cassidy. He confirmed the rumors, telling People magazine that Somers would want him to find love and happiness again based on what she told him before she died.

“When it was clear that Suzanne was not going to recover in the final days of her life on this planet, before she crossed over, she told me, ‘I don’t want you to mope around after I’m gone,'” he told People in an interview published on June 27.

“I actually never heard the expression ‘mope around’ before. I said, ‘So you mean I shouldn’t sit at home and feel sorry for myself?’ She said, ‘I want you to live your life.

You have a great life. You have a great family. You have great friends. I want you to live your life,'” he added.
Hamel, who is set to celebrate his 89th birthday on June 30, told People that he and his wife were inseparable until the day she died.

“The last 42 years of our relationship, we didn’t spend even an hour apart, and it wasn’t planned. We didn’t plan it. It just evolved that way. It’s quite strange, relative to most marriages, but it worked for us,” he explained.

In an interview with Fox News, Hamel said that he’s known Cassidy, 79, for 45 years and that the two recently reconnected thanks to his son, Stephen, who met at a film screening.

Meanwhile, Hamel, who had been married to Somers for 46 years, also told People that he started dating again about a year and a half after losing his wife. He decided to take two women out on dates at the same time — for optics — but now he’s having a great time with Cassidy. He admits he’s unsure where the relationship will go, but says that so far? It’s “wonderful.”
