Over the past few weeks, there’s been a storm of speculation surrounding my future on Chicago Fire. I’ve seen the headlines, the rumors, and the flood of messages from fans who’ve been worried that Lieutenant Kelly Severide’s story was coming to an end. So, I wanted to speak directly — honestly — to all of you.
First and foremost: don’t believe everything you read. The truth often gets lost in the noise, and lately, that noise has been louder than ever. Chicago Fire has been my home for over a decade — a place where I’ve grown not just as an actor, but as a person. The cast, the crew, and the incredible fans have become family to me. And that’s not something I walk away from lightly — or at all.
Yes, there have been moments when I stepped back for personal reasons. Life happens, and sometimes we all need space to take care of what truly matters. But leaving this show for good? That’s not the story. Not now. Not yet.

I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who’s reached out with love and concern. Your messages, your artwork, your stories about how Severide inspired you — they mean the world to me. You’re the reason we show up, day after day, to give our best. You’re the heartbeat of One Chicago, and you deserve clarity.
So, here it is: Severide’s story isn’t finished.
There are still fires to fight, lives to save, and emotions to uncover. The next chapter will be intense, emotional, and — without giving too much away — one of the most powerful arcs we’ve explored yet.
I’ve always said that what makes Chicago Fire special isn’t just the action or the drama — it’s the people. It’s the bond that runs through Firehouse 51, and the bond that connects us to all of you watching from your living rooms. That connection doesn’t fade. If anything, it burns brighter with every season.
Thank you for standing by me — for standing by us.
Your loyalty, your passion, and your faith keep this fire alive.
See you soon, 51. 🔥
