Taylor Kinney’s Hilarious “Holiday Romcom” Trailer Has Fans Begging for a Real Movie md18

The Chicago Fire star debuted a trailer for a fake Christmas movie that we really wish was real.

There’s nothing like over-the-top, corny, predictable holiday romcoms. And this year, even longtime Chicago Fire star Taylor Kinney is getting in on the action — kind of.

The star’s latest “project” was recently revealed in a December 4 Instagram post. Sure, it’s an ad, but nevertheless, it gives fans a look at an alternate universe where Kinney stars in a cheesy movie opposite WWE Superstar Nikki Garcia and The Traitors Season 4 star Donna Kelce. It’s the perfect holiday wish come true for any Kinney fan who’s been wishing for the 44-year-old to add a cheesy Christmas-themed romantic comedy to his Hollywood resume.

The “short film” has all the tropes fans would expect from a breezy holiday movie, from Bella (as the career-focused woman who moved out of her hometown for a job in the big city) literally bumping into her old boyfriend (Kinney), to the two buying each other the same Secret Santa Christmas gift.

Oh, and it also includes this line: “I can’t believe I ran into my ex-boyfriend who still lives in my small hometown and he’s still so good-looking.”

Momma Kelce’s cameo was pitch-perfect, too. The star looked great throughout the faux film, showing the same kind of easygoing charisma that has made him a One Chicago fan favorite. Is it the greatest “movie” ever made? No. Would we watch a full-length feature film version of it solely because of Kinney? Absolutely — and fans would, too.

Ultimately, The Gift Ex-change is a harmless bit of advertising showcasing one of Chicago Fire’s longest-tenured stars. What’s not to love about that?

When does the Chicago Fire winter hiatus end?

New episodes are coming sooner than you think. The One Chicago winter hiatus ends in 2026, setting the stage for new episodes of Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago P.D. premiering on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.

Until then, fans can look forward to NBC’s holiday programming taking over the One Chicago Wednesday night time slots until new episodes return. Click here for more information on the complete Christmas special schedule.
