The Acolyte’s Mystery Deepens In Thrilling New Star Wars Clip

An incredible new action clip from The Acolyte shows Amandla Stenberg’s Mae launch a brutal attack on Lee Jung-jae’s Master Sol. Star Wars’ next TV show, The Acolyte, will blaze new ground for the franchise – introducing viewers to the High Republic Era, the Golden Age of the Jedi Order. Leslye Headland’s TV show promises to be a murder mystery, because someone is killing Jedi. The assassin appears to be Amandla Stenberg’s Mae, although it looks as though there are some major twists in the tale.

A stunning new clip shows Mae go head-to-head with Master Sol. The fight choreography is absolutely stunning, and it’s thrilling to see how Master Sol blends martial arts with use of the Force.

Mae’s attacks are impressive, but it’s quite clear that Sol is her superior. He effortlessly blocks her blows, and even disarms her, predicting that she will use her throwing knives when she learns her martial arts aren’t sufficient.

The Mystery Of The Jedi Assassin Deepends With Every Acolyte Clip
Lucasfilm previously released an Acolyte clip alongside Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, and both focused on the Disney+ TV show’s incredible action scenes. It’s clear the studio is very proud of the fight choreography, and rightly so; this is easily the best that’s been seen in Star Wars since the prequels themselves. There’s a precision to the stuntwork that is breathtaking to see.

The two scenes have intriguing parallels, though, that serve to further the mystery of the Jedi assassin. In the previous clip, Mae attacked Master Indara, and in both scenes the assassin initially used hand-to-hand while trying to steal the Jedi Master’s lightsaber. In Indara’s case, her failure to do so leads to her escalating the attack by using her knives; but Sol seems wise to this trick, disarming her before she can use the same technique.
This would appear to imply that Mae is trying to steal lightsabers. But she isn’t, because trailers have shown her leaving lightsaber blades behind when she kills. Mae’s motives are becoming more mysterious with every clip from The Acolyte that’s shared – which is likely exactly why Lucasfilm chose these particular moments.
