The Bridgerton Glow-Up Continues: Season 4 Secrets Netflix Didn’t Want You to Know dt01

Holy cliffhanger, Batman! The first half of Bridgerton’s fourth season left Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) — and all of us at home — hanging after his less-than-romantic proposal to Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha). And we’re not going to get any resolution until the back half of the season drops on Feb. 26.

“Benedict has operated for three seasons and four episodes as someone whose coping mechanism is just giving everyone a little love bomb and moving on,” Thompson told Gold Derby about his alter ego’s romantic fail. “He’s scared of committing and of really staring life in the face. It’s intoxicating to always feel like you endlessly have all the choices to make and you never have to make a decision, but actually you do — as becomes clear in Part 2.”

Here’s everything you need to know about Bridgerton Season 4 while waiting for the concluding chapters of Benedict and Sophie’s love story.
What’s new with the Bridgerton clan?
Benedict has been part of Bridgerton since Season 1, but he’s only taking center stage now after side dalliances with Genevieve Delacroix, Lady Tilley Arnold… and Paul Suarez. Sophie enters his life at one of his mother’s masquerade balls and, immediately smitten, he makes a point of finding her sans mask in the outside world with the help of his sister Eloise (Claudia Jessie). Turns out she’s a maid that serves the upper crust rather than a member of the upper crust, which will no doubt add complications to their romance.
Elsewhere in the Bridgerton household, Eloise and her younger sister, Hyacinth (Florence Hunt), befriend new debutant siblings Rosamund and Posy Li (Michelle Mao and Isabella Wei), and Anthony and Kate (Jonathan Bailey and Simon Ashley) swing by to confirm their love story is still going strong. Similarly, last season’s couple Colin and Penelope (Luke Newton and Nicola Coughlan) are still around, as is Penelope’s alter ego, Lady Whistledown (voiced by recent Emmy winner Julie Andrews).
What else happened in Part 1?
Bridgerton’s creative team packed plenty of drama into the first four episodes besides the Benedict and Sophie saga. For starters, Francesca Bridgerton (Hannah Todd) is trying to experience “the pinnacle” during her bedroom encounters with her new husband John Stirling (Victor Alli), but can’t quite seem to reach that particular summit. And speaking of bedroom encounters, Bridgerton matriarch, Violet (Ruth Gemmell) finally consummated her attraction to Lord Marcus Anderson (Daniel Francis) in a scene guest-written by Shonda Rhimes.

Elsewhere, Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel) and Lady Danbury (Adjoa Andoh) are hitting a wall in their friendship, and the Great Maid Wars leads longtime Featherington household employee, Varley (Lorraine Ashbourne), to decame for a new employer — Sophie’s cruel former employer/guardian, Lady Araminta Gun (Katie Leung)

What’s Bridgerton’s Emmy count?
To date, Bridgerton has earned 20 Primetime Emmy nominations across its three previous seasons and won five statuettes. Season 1 was its most-nominated year with 12 nods overall, including Best Drama Series. Season 2 was the least-nominated season with three nods and Season 3 earned five nominations, winning three overall.
