When The Conners returns for Season 6, one of Dan Conner’s grandchildren will no longer be living under his roof.
TVLine can exclusively reveal that Jayden Rey – who since 2018’s Roseanne revival has played DJ’s daughter Mary – will not be returning as a series regular.
Her exit comes one season after The Conners parted ways with her TV dad, Michael Fishman, who was written out ahead of Season 5.
When The Conners first launched in 2018, the principal cast also included Maya Lynne Robinson as DJ’s wife (and Mary’s mother) Geena. But after Season 1, Robinson departed for a role on CBS’ The Unicorn, at which point Geena reenlisted in the Army. She returned to Lanford in the Season 3 finale, but did not appear in Seasons 4 or 5.

In Season 5, DJ and Geena reunited overseas, while Mary remained situated in Lanford and split her time between Dan’s house and Geena’s mother’s house. Though she was credited for every episode, Rey appeared in just five of Season 5’s 22 episodes.
Returning for The Conners Season 6 are John Goodman (as Dan Conner), Laurie Metcalf (as Jackie Harris), Sara Gilbert (as Darlene Conner), Lecy Goranson (as Becky Conner-Healy), Emma Kenney (as Harris Conner-Healy), Ames McNamara (as Mark Conner-Healy), Jay R. Ferguson (as Ben Olinsky) and recurring guest star Katey Sagal (as Louise Goldufski). New episodes begin airing Wednesday, Feb. 7 at 8/7c on ABC.
Prior to its Season 6 premiere, reruns of The Conners, beginning with Season 1, will air on The CW in January.
