On Season Six, episode five, Crystal Anderson, played by Natalie West, returned to the franchise.
She is Roseanne and Dan’s, played by John Goodman, lifelong friend, and eventually becomes Dan’s step-mother.
This marks her second appearance on the spinoff, having appeared midway through an episode of The Conners in 2018.
In her first appearance, she grieved Roseanne, who they killed off in the series, along with the rest of the family.
During that episode, fans learned that Crystal came out of retirement and returned to her service job at a local casino.
Dan eventually learns that his father, Ed Jr., and Crystal’s husband, had died, through an obituary.
But, they hadn’t heard from Crystal since then.
Now, she is back and staying with Dan and his family.
In the episode When Sisters Collide and The Return of the Grifters, Jackie’s husband, Neville, found out that the money he loaned Dan at the end of Season Five did to hire a lawyer was not used for his DUI.

Instead, Dan used the money to pay for Crystal’s medical bills.
He told Neville that Crystal had just gotten out of the hospital and that she would be staying with them for a few weeks.
“I used the $500 to buy her heart medicine. She was embarrassed to be taking a handout,” Dan said.
“When she was married to my dad, she noticed her ankles started swelling. My dad didn’t want to pay for a bunch of expensive tests, so he convinced her that all she needed was diuretics….”
“He was always trying to beat the system. He talked me into getting them from my doctor, and like a fool, I went along with it and she never got tested,” Dan explained.
They later said Crystal was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure.
“She found out about a year ago, and I carry some of the blame for that,” Dan told Neville.
“Loving this season of @TheConnersABC. First Bev. Now Crystal. Finally feels like its back to the Roseanne roots and the heart of the show. Lecy Goranson continues to own every scene. #TheConners,” wrote one last fan.
