“The Golden Bachelor” season 2 returns on Oct. 15 with Mel Owens having narrowed down the contestants to just six. In episode 5, the former NFL athlete will connect with the remaining women on a spiritual group date, and viewers will watch one woman receive a coveted one-on-one date at Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles.
Strong bonds are being formed, and all the ladies seem to be the perfect match for Owens. However, he will sadly send three women home during another rose ceremony, as the remaining three women will be preparing for hometown dates next week!
The six remaining women are: Carol, 63; Cheryl, 66; Cindy, 60; Debbie, 65; Nicolle, 64, and Peg, 62.
A Spiritual Retreat Brings Mel Owens Closer to the Remaining Women
Mel Owens has a huge decision to make this week as he must narrow the six contestants down to just three. As fans have been tuning in, it has been incredibly difficult to tell who is a frontrunner, as each woman seems like Owens’ type.
Meeting with host Jesse Palmer, the women learn that next week is hometown dates. There is only one group date remaining, and one woman will earn a one-on-one. But, unlike other dates, Owens will not be handing out a rose; instead, the women will learn their fate at the rose ceremony.
Cindy, who hails from Austin, Texas, gets the one-on-one date with Owens, as the rest of the ladies join Owens for a wellness retreat.
Owens tells the five women that he wants to see how his “energy aligns” with each of them. They meet with a Shaman, who has them write down an emotion they are feeling. It’s sad to hear that some of the ladies have used words like “hopelessness” and “unworthy.” For Owens, it’s “friction.” This group date is an important one, as Owens can truly see if he has a strong connection with any of these women before heading to their hometowns.
First up, Owens has a mud bath with Peg. They connected well during a one-on-one date at a county fair. Owens loved her energy. “Peg is a live wire, and she is a person that I think I closely align with,” he shares.
Cheryl meets with Owens next. They spend their time together doing a cold plunge. Cheryl tells Owens that she has “true feelings” for him. She becomes the first woman to tell him that she may be falling in love with him. “She’s loving, caring, I’m pretty lucky,” he shares.
Next up is Debbie, she and Owens partake in tantric yoga, which sees Debbie “straddling” him. Debbie shares that she would love Owens to meet her family, and he agrees.
Nicolle, whom Owens calls “his favorite,” has a spiritual reading alongside him. During their conversation, Nicolle tells him about her dreams to boost her career. Woah. “There are a few things that give me pause,” he shares. Nicolle rubbed fans the wrong way last week when she shared that she and the ladies could have “Housewife status.” Maybe Owens should have really listened to Robin, who warned him about someone having the wrong intentions.
Last but not least is Carol. “My relationship with Carol is expanding. With Carol, you could see there is a lot in there, and slowly but surely, it is coming out. Maybe this is the place she can open up,” Owens shares.
Owens and Carol have a very emotional exercise, but Carol is questioning whether she should continue this journey. “I don’t think he’s my guy,” she shares in a confessional. Carol chooses to leave the show.

Cindy Has Her One-on-One Date
Cindy was selected to have a private date with Owens. They head to Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles. The two go horseback riding (it’s a bit hilarious seeing Owens on a horse), and they have a picnic. Owens shares about Cindy, “She makes me feel relaxed, that’s a powerful thing.”
Cindy shares that she is falling for Owens. “I’m feeling great about Mel; he is such a great man,” she says. He presents Cindy with a gift: he gets her her very own star from the conservatory. What an unexpected and beautiful gesture!
It’s extremely important that Cindy nabbed this one-on-one; she’s clearly getting a rose at the rose ceremony, and the two look really good together.
Owens Sends Two Women Home at the Rose Ceremony
With Carol leaving the show, Owens has somewhat of an easier decision, having to choose two women to go home. As he speaks to Palmer about each of the ladies, they get a special video call with their families, the people viewers and Owens may meet next week.
As Owens talks to the host, he admits he is skeptical of Nicolle and “what she does.”
This is an extremely tough decision for any Bachelor lead. They are potentially going to meet the people who may end up being part of their family, so choosing the three contestants is critical this week.
It’s time for the rose ceremony. The three women who will go on hometown dates are: Cindy, Peg, and Debbie.
The two women who did not receive a rose are Cheryl and Nicolle. While Owens may have seen through Nicolle and her intentions, seeing Cheryl leave is a bit of a shock; she was the first person to have a one-on-one date with Owens this season.
And, are we not surprised that as Nicolle heads home in the limo, she suggests she be the next “Golden Bachelorette?” Yes, she really said that.
Anyway, it’s hometown dates next week!
