Joan Vassos and Chock Chapple, who got engaged over a year ago on season 1 of The Golden Bachelorette, offered an update about when they plan to tie the knot.
Wedding bells won’t be ringing for Joan Vassos and Chock Chapple this year.
The Golden Bachelorette couple recently explained that despite getting engaged over a year ago, they don’t have plans to officially tie the knot in 2026.
“We get that [question] all the time,” Chock explained in a video Q&A shared to their Instagram pages on Feb. 16. “In 2025, Joan had a big wedding for her oldest son, Nick. And then she’s got another one getting married this year, so we’ve elected to not compete with them.”
“Let them have their year,” the 62-year-old—who is dad to daughter Taylor and son Tyler with ex-wife Heather—continued. “So you might look for something in 2027.”
With family taking priority, Joan—who shares sons Nicholas, 36, and Luke, 29, and daughters Erica, 33, and Allison, 30, with late husband John Vassos—was in full agreement with her fiancé.
“Yeah, ’27. Hopefully, nobody else will get married, but I think you have a son who possibly could, so we’ll see!” the 63-year-old said. “We have grown kids and they just happen to be falling into that part of their lives too… We’ll get married sometime when our kids aren’t getting married.”
Another topic that the couple discussed was their current living arrangements—and the big question of why they still don’t live together.
“One day, we will,” Joan explained. “We haven’t figured out the city yet.”
Chock noted that they’ve been busy with work and travel, adding, “At some point, we do [want to live together]. We’re traveling all the time so it’s gonna come… the more we travel, the more we go, ‘Oh, we like this.’”
As for when they do land on a location, their housing situation will remain largely similar to what it is now.

“When I think about this question, I think it probably won’t be where I live. It probably won’t be where you live,” Joan said, gesturing to Chock. “I think we will probably keep our houses, and we’ll have a love shack someplace.”
While Joan and Chock haven’t set a date just yet, one thing they have previously agreed upon is whether they will let Golden Bachelorette fans in on their big day.
“People say, ‘Will you get married on TV?’” Joan said on a September episode of The Tangle podcast with Kyle Ridley. “It hasn’t been offered to us.”
“I’m perfectly happy doing our own thing with our family and friends. But I would never not like, put some pictures up and let you know it’s happening,” she continued. “I’m so grateful that people watched the show. The people that watched, I feel really kind of responsible to. They are watching what we are doing and I would never leave them at the door.”
She added, “They deserve to see how this progresses and if it does well, celebrate with us… I feel like they have invested in us.”

Peg Munson & Mel Owens
Even before Mel Owen’s season of The Golden Bachelor kicked off, he was hit with a few penalties after going on the MGoBlue Podcasts With Jon Jansen and insisting, “if they’re 60 or over, I’m cutting them,” adding that he wanted them to “try to stay away from the artificial hips and the wigs.”
And while his forever teammate Peg Munson is a fellow sexagenarian, his connection with the retired firefighter and bomb tech is quite explosive, the former NFL linebacker praising her as “high-energy” to Glamour.
Though he didn’t take a knee during his November 2025 finale, the sports lawyer still offered up a Neil Lane sparkler, saying, “This represents our commitment to love, to give us time to figure out together what our future holds.”
