ABC confirmed the exciting return of two fan favorites ahead of The Good Doctor’s dreaded season finale.
Earlier this year, the network announced that the medical drama will conclude at the end of its ongoing seventh season.
Although devastated fans made calls for a petition to keep the show on screens, many will be pleased to see two familiar faces return to St Bonaventure Hospital.
Antonia Thomas who starred as Dr Claire Brown and Dr Daniel Perez’s Brandon Larracuente will officially star in upcoming episodes.
According to Deadline, the actress will return for two episodes with one being the finale, while it seems Larracuente will only make one appearance.
Fans will remember Claire as Dr Shaun Murphy’s (played by Freddie Highmore) closest friend before her exit in season four.
The 2021 episode saw her stay behind in Guatemala where a special group of doctors went out to assist with surgeries.
While everyone returned to America, she stayed in Central America and took on a new job at the clinic.
Claire made a surprise visit in season five and revealed she had been offered the job of Chief of Surgery at the Guatemalan hospital.
During season one, Claire was romantically involved with Dr. Jared Kalu (Chuku Modu) who after a four-year hiatus returned in season six as a series regular.
Their reunion could spark a complicated love triangle for him and his current love interest Dr Jordan Allen (Bria Henderson).
As for Larracuente’s Dr. Perez, he left following the season six finale after a severe injury prompted Dr. Allen to break his sobriety and treat him with painkillers.
The pain was so severe that it was hurting his recovery, she said, so she made the tough judgment call.
Although he originally rejected the care, Perez eventually understood why she did it and moved back in with his family in Texas to physically and emotionally recover from the whole ordeal, leaving his romantic relationship with Jordan on hold.
