The Good Doctor cancelled: Has The Good Doctor been cancelled by ABC?

Starring Bates Motel actor Freddie Highmore, The Good Doctor has been on our screens since 2017. The ABC drama centres on Highmore’s character Dr Shaun Murphy who is autistic, following his journey both personally and professionally, as well as some of his colleagues. So has The Good Doctor been cut short just after three series? Here’s what we know about the future of The Good Doctor.
In the dramatic season three finale of The Good Doctor, an earthquake hit California and it was up to the staff at San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital to tend to anyone in need of urgent care.

The tension quickly escalated though when the surgeons found out both Dr Neil Melendez (played by Nicholas Gonzalez) and Lea Dilallo (Paige Spara) were trapped in a collapsed building.
Shaun ventured into the rubble to try and rescue Lea but thankfully, she had already made it out mostly unscathed.

Grateful for what he was willing to do for her, Lea told him “you make me more” before kissing Shaun.
However, the season didn’t have a happy ending for everyone as Melendez had been struck by rubble.

He was taken to hospital but shortly after confessing his love for Dr Claire Browne (Antonio Thomas), he died of septic shock.

Claire was left sobbing by his bedside as the man she loved was dead.

The future of other characters at the hospital including Dr Morgan Reznick (Fiona Gubelmann) and Dr Alex Park (Will Yun Lee) were also left hanging in the balance by the end of season three.

Has The Good Doctor been cancelled by ABC?

Thankfully, this will not be the end of The Good Doctor as the medical drama has been renewed for a fourth season.

So there is no need for fans to worry about the show’s future for now as The Good Doctor has not been cancelled by ABC.

“I’m excited to see where they take us next.”
