Season three of The Good Doctor recently came back from its midseason break with more new episodes to grip viewers. The show continued to focus on the daily trials and tribulations faced by the staff at St. Bonaventure Hospital in San Jose. There was continuing fallout between Shaun Murphy (played by Freddie Highmore) and Carly Lever (Jasika Nicole).
The couple had their ups and down through the episodes as they made up.
They finally consummated their relationship after it looked like the pair would break up.
This week was no different as Claire Browne (Antonia Thomas) and Neil Melendez (Nicholas Gonzalez) tried to help a cancer patient.
Audiences were introduced to cancer patient Angie (Alyssa Jirrels) and her boyfriend Ryan (David Iacono) who met while undergoing treatment.
The pair were being treated by Claire, who admitted she would like to be in love again after going through a rough patch.
Later on, the doctors discovered Ryan’s treatment had been successful and would no longer require surgery to remove a tumour.
As Angie and Ryan hugged at his recovery, she collapsed and it soon became clear her cancer had returned.
She was told the outlook wasn’t good and she’d need surgery which would mean missing out on the prom.
To add another layer of distress, Angie’s mother was worried about her daughter and refused Ryan to see her.
Angie was left deeply upset by this and the medical staff were concerned the teen’s psychological state could affect her chances of recovery and going under the knife.
In the end, Claire managed to organise a last-minute prom which the teens could attend to spread some joy.
The next day, Angie went into surgery but sadly the brain tumour was inoperable and she was taken back to the intensive care unit where she died.
Angie’s mother and Ryan were left distraught after finding out what had happened.
Claire, too, was deeply shaken by what she’d seen with her channelling her frustration at her mother
