The Good Doctor saw a fan-favourite murdered, leaving viewers “devastated” as the final series reaches its halfway point.

Asher Wolke (played by Noah Galvin) joined the cast of the ABC medical drama in season four, who left the Hasidic community aged 18 and had a God complex as an atheist.

He was among the six new characters who were introduced and then was promoted to a series regular for season five.

Fans have enjoyed watching Asher’s story unfold and especially his relationship with St Bonaventure nurse Jerome (Giacomo Baessato).
To mark the second anniversary of their first date, Jerome had the intention of proposing but in the final moments of season seven, episode five, Who At Peace, tragedy struck.

In this episode, Asher had reconnected to his Judaism after helping a patient with their wedding ceremony and drove Rabbi Benjamin back to his synagogue.

Unfortunately, it had been vandalised and when one of the criminals tried to talk back at them, Asher replied: “I am a Jew. A gay one, in fact, and I’m calling the cops”.

It was thought that was the end of it as they walked off, leaving Asher and the Rabbi to say goodbye.

But when Asher left to go and meet Jerome, the vandals came back and beat him to death.
