Dr Carly Lever (played by Jasika Nicole) is the resident pathologist of St Bonaventure, the hospital where The Good Doctor is set. The Good Doctor season two, which airs on Sky Witness in the UK, sees Dr Carly working closely with Dr Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore) after he was transferred to pathology by Dr Jackson Han (Daniel Dae Kim). Jasika Nicole appeared in Fringe, Scandal and Underground before joining The Good Doctor season two cast on ABC and Sky Witness.
Who plays Dr Carly Lever in The Good Doctor?
Before The Good Doctor season two, Jasika Nicole was best known for playing Astrid Farnsworth in JJ Abrams’ series Fringe.
She played the character in over 100 episodes from 2008 to 2013.
As well as playing the junior FBI agent, she appeared as an alternate version of the character from another universe.
She first appeared on TV, however, three years earlier than her career-making turn in Fringe.
Her debut was in an episode of Law & Order: Criminal Intent – a role she later voiced in the Criminal Intent video game.
Nicole then made her film debut the following year from her appearance on Law & Order.
In 2006, she starred alongside Antonio Banderas in dance drama Take the Lead.
In 2008, the year she started on Fringe, she made her first appearance as a recurring character on short-lived FOX comedy The Return of Jezebel James.
After Fringe ended in 2013, Nicole has featured in seven episodes of Scandal as Kim Munoz.
Since her last appearance on Scandal in 2016, Nicole has appeared in the voice cast of TV shows like animation Adventure Time and Justice League Action.
She has also starred on TV series like Underground and Danger & Eggs.
Alongside her TV work, she had been in the cast of films like A Christmas in New York and Suicide Kale.
She joined the cast of The Good Doctor in 2017 as pathologist Carly Lever for three episodes of season one.
However, the character returned to the show in season two after Shaun was transferred to her department.
With Shaun still working in pathology, season two’s last two episodes could see the character return for more appearances.
